Day 1 - November 12, 2016, Saturday
Evening arrival at Lima International Airport on scheduled flight and transfer to hotel.. Overnight: Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel, Lima.
Day 2 - November 13, 2016, Sunday
Morning tour the city of Lima, visit the Plaza Mayor, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will continue on to the Cathedral, with its splendid carved stalls, silver covered altars surrounded by fine?woodwork, pass by the Government Palace, the City Hall and the Archbishop's Palace.?From the historic center you will travel through modern Lima and visit the modern districts of San Isidro and Miraflores. Afternoon will be at your leisure. Overnight: Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel, Lima.
Day 3 - November 14, 2016, Monday
After breakfast you will met by our guide who will escort you to the airport for flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met after luggage collection by the Orient-Express representative and transferred to the Orient Express Monasterio Hotel, one of the finest luxury hotels in South America. The afternoon visit Koricancha, The Temple of Sun. The combined sacred sites of Koricancha and Santo Domingo in Cusco vividly illustrate ancient Andean culture's collision with Western Europe. The Temple of the Sun (Templo del Sol) at Koricancha was the most sumptuous temple in the Inca Empire. After the spanish conquest the exquisite polished stone walls were used as the foundations of the Dominican Convent of Santo Domingo, forming perhaps Cusco's most jarring imperial- colonial architectural juxtaposition. Day 4 - November 15, 2016, Tuesday
This morning begin your day with a visit to Cusco's central market, a wonderful way to discover Andean culture and daily life. This vibrant spot, with its dazzling displays of fresh produce and fascinating local products, could keep you entertained for hours. After your visit to San Pedro Market take a stroll through Cusco ´s charming streets that delivers history and culture in equal measures. Continue to the Cathedral, found on one of the streets of the main square of Cusco, is, without any doubt, one of the most attractive buildings of America. It was built in 1560 and finished being build in 1668, the Sacristy, is one of the most luxurious and most decorated precincts of the Cathedral, presents an assembly of paintings from to the middle of the 17th century of Marcos Zapata. Lunch is included will be at one of the best restaurants in Cusco. Overnight: Belmond Monasterio Hotel, Cusco.
Day 5 - November 16, 2016, Wednesday
Morning Transfer to Poroy station from where you will travel to Machu Picchu on board the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham train, where a late morning arrival gives you time to begin your explorations of this breathtaking Incan citadel. Brunch will be served on board. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes train station, a 25 minutes shuttle will bring you to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Afternoon visit this unique Inca citadel and its surrounding complexes (private guided tour). Accompanied by your guide, explore the city's ruins, and feel its pulse as you visualize the lives of the priests, craftsmen, and servants who inhabited this seemingly uninhabitable citadel. Excavations at the site have revealed skeletons, artifacts and woolen clothing, but no gold. The same precision of assembled stones exists here as in other Incan sites. Overlooking the raging Urubamba River and discovered in a hidden tangle of vines and trees atop the mountain, the city of Machu Picchu will forever hold its secret of its destruction – the Incas left no written record. Day 6 - November 17, 2016, Thursday
This morning you may rise early to enjoy a walk through Machu Picchu at sunrise, something which people of strong spirituality believe to be the highlight of a visit to Machu Picchu. Today you will have the opportunity to take one of two hikes: The first possibility is to the Inti Punku, or famous Sun Gate, which is the entry point to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail and offers excellent views of the ruins. The second is the chance to hike up the Huayna Picchu – the highest mountain which is actually part of the ruins, from where you are afforded excellent views of the surrounding area, as well as a unique view of the famous 'lost city'. Or just relax and continue exploring this magnificent citadel. Afternoon return by Vistadome train to Ollanta station, and transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Day 7 - November 18, 2016, Friday
Visit Chinchero town , a small Andean Indian village?located high up on the windswept plains of Anta at 3762m above sea level, about 30km from Cusco. There are?beautiful views overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the snow-capped peak?of Salkantay dominating the western horizon. Afternoon visit Ollantaytambo the site of one of the great Inca fortresses and sacred areas in the Urubamba Valley. The town is one of the oldest? continuously occupied settlements in the Americas, and the? sixteen massive terraces spread before you are a testimony to the magnificent Inca masonry. Climb the steep stone steps up to the imposing fortress at the top of the mountain. From here the view down the valley is superb and you can admire the huge monoliths that form the Temple of the Sun. Day 8 - November 19, 2016, Saturday
Morning transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. On the way to Cusco we will stop at the town of Pisac, renowned for its colorful market where the local Indians meet to sell their merchandise as they have done for centuries. The handicraft market is open every day and is famous for its ceramic beads made into necklaces, earrings and other Peruvian artifacts. On arrival in Lima, you will be met by our tour guide who will escort you to a local restaurant where we will have the farewell dinner. Evening transfer to airport for your international departure flight.
