Upon arrival in the port city of Muscat, a car service will be waiting for a transfer to the The Chedi Hotel.
Muscat is Old Arabia at its most evocative. Dramatic mountains loom over this port city on the Gulf of Oman, where the Portuguese forts of al Jalali and al Mirani guard the harbour.
The rest of the day is free for you to make you own discoveries, or try one of the recommended restaurants for a local dinner.

Explore the essentials of Muscat, a traditional culture with a modern city center. Tour the Grand Mosque*, Royal Opera House, and Bait al Zubair Museum as you learn the history and development of the city. Next, shop the fabulous Mutrah Fish Market and colorful souq before snapping a photo of the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, flanked by 16th c. Portuguese forts.
*Visitors must be fully covered wrists to ankles; ladies must wear a scarf covering hair and neck.

Day 4 - Monday, October 24, 2022
A breath-taking coastal drive takes us to the Bimah Sinkhole. Then, relax in the aquamarine pools and marvel at the waterfalls, and terraced plantations of Wadi Shab – one of the most beautiful spots in Oman. Winding through mountainous terrain, we arrive in Sur at the Dhow Factory to discover how artisans use centuries-old techniques to build traditional Arabian ships. This evening we take a stroll along the beach to watch the giant green turtles laying their eggs under the light of the moon.

Sip a traditional Bedouin coffee in a Bedouin home. As nomads of the desert, these people have a fascinating lifestyle. After, we wander the old villages of Ibra, gawking at the old architecture. Then, we promenade through the lush green date plantations in the beautiful village of Birkat al Mauz. Our day ends in Nizwa, birthplace of Islam in Oman.

Day 7 - Thursday, October 27, 2022
Tour the Aflaj Irrigation Systems of Al Hamra and see the 400-year-old mud houses still occupied today. Experience the authentic Omani lifestyle in Bait Al Safah, a living history museum. We stop at Wadi Nakhr, a farming village in the mountains, before we reach Jabal Shams and the gorgeous vistas of the Great Canyon of Oman.

Day 8 - Friday, October 28, 2022
Tour the famous Round Tower Fort of Nizwa followed by a visit to the souq.
Purchase some silver jewelry or hand-carved khanjars (daggers). Then, explore outside the city to Bahla, a town encircled by a winding wall and UNESCO protected fort. Jabrin, another nearby town, houses the finest castle in Oman complete with ornate ceiling paintings and beautifully executed woodcarvings.
