Shanghai to Hong Kong All-Gay Cruise
March 20–30, 2010
Azamara’s Quest
Our first gay cruise to Asia was such an incredible success that we've created a brand new sailing to visit six extraordinary cities in Northern Asia, sailing from Shanghai to Hong Kong in March 2010 on the five-star Azamara Quest. Our fantastic custom itinerary includes South Korea, and Japan with overnights in both Osaka and Taipei. We'll literally visit places that can only best be seen by ship, welcoming you back each day to a world of total pampering on our luxurious and intimate 684-guest ship.
It all starts in the city of the future, Shanghai, home to Expo 2010 and one of the most remarkable cities on the planet. From there we'll sail to Busan, South Korea's premier trading port, a bustling metropolis with magnificent vistas and serene temples. Our overnight in Osaka allows you plenty of time to visit nearby Kyoto, Japan's most beautiful and alluring city filled with thousands of temples, gardens, and palaces. With any luck we'll be there during the height of the "Cherry Blossom" season.
As we head further south, we'll arrive in the city of Hiroshima, a modern city of broad avenues and beautiful seafront that stands as a monument to the promotion of world peace. Our last stop in Japan is the serene city of Kagoshima, the perfect place to see the volcanic heights of Mt. Sakurajima and other natural wonders. After a relaxing day at sea, the lively city of Taipei awaits where a full overnight allows you to explore the ancient temples, soaring skyscrapers, and fantastic nightlife of Taiwan's largest city. A vibrant and welcoming gay scene awaits and Atlantis will work closely with locals to show you the best of it all.
Finally, we sail into spectacular Hong Kong, Asia's most vibrant and colorful port city.
We invite you to extend your vacation, both before and after your cruise, with our many options in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Of course, you can always combine this with our Hong Kong to Singapore cruise for the ultimate Asia tour!
Sailing on a 684-passenger ship simply offers you the opportunity for indulgences in ways you never imagined on a larger ship. Quest offers exciting diversions for every taste starting with a beautiful teak pool deck with plenty of space for sunning and relaxation. The full-service spa offers pampering treatments of every type, along with a fully-equipped fitness center. Curl up with a good book or DVD from the onboard library, or relax with friends in the card room or many lounges throughout the ship.
With one staff member for every two guests, Azamara's personal service is unparalleled. In your stateroom, outside by the pool, in the Spa, anywhere at all, at anytime, their onboard family goes the extra mile to ensure every aspect of your cruise is exactly the way desire.
When you do finally return to the ship after a day of exploring, Atlantis presents intimate and carefully selected entertainment on our main stage and throughout the ship. You'll enjoy the best in gay and lesbian comedians, singers, and cabaret performers. Plus, our custom enrichment lectures will keep you informed and entertained about the region's history and the journey ahead.
We'll redefine revelry with our unique deck T-dances and evening parties, featuring leading DJs from around the globe. A variety of musical acts entertain throughout the ship, and there's even an exciting casino waiting for you to test your luck.
The Azamara Quest was designed to be the perfect home for destination-based cruising, accommodating only 684 guests in luxurious state-of-the-art accommodations, dining, and service.
Azamara satisfies in ways that no other cruise ship has before, with the finest meals prepared by renowned chefs, using only the finest ingredients. The possibilities never end, with menus that change daily. All in a relaxed and sophisticated setting.
Aqualina and Prime C, our two specialty venues, offer guests a dining experience unlike anything else at sea (as well as rivaling those on land). The fully equipped fitness center offers everything from classes to the latest in cardio and weight-training equipment.
As the evening comes to life, the Azamara Quest comfortable lounges invite you to enjoy the company of friends along with Atlantis' exciting entertainment. Soak up the sounds of a great piano in Michael's Club. Enjoy one of the dozens of offerings on hand at our Martini Bar. Or enjoy one of our many talented cabaret performers in the Looking Glass, located high above the ocean.
Of course, there's also an exciting casino, tempting onboard shops, an internet café, and much more. All in a ship that you'll enjoy calling home as you return each day.
Atlantis' Shanghai to Hong Kong cruise creates an unforgettable introduction to this incredible continent during the best season to sail. With 684 guests, it's also the perfect way to meet new friends in a comfortable and original setting. We invite you to join us on this extraordinary adventure.
Our 2009 cruise sold out in record time, and we've even lowered our fares for 2010! Don't delay as we are not currently planning a 2011 Asia cruise.

Shanghai, China
At the mouth of the Yangtze River, the largest city in China is a vigorous modern metropolis with a rich Chinese heritage. Once the world's center of commerce between East and West, Shanghai was a multinational hub of finance and business in the 1930s. Interrupted by the Communist takeover in 1949, today she is once again a cosmopolitan center known for her culture and design, and described by many as the showpiece of China's economy.
Busan, South Korea
South Korea's second largest city, Busan is also Korea's largest port. It is an international metropolis but with beautiful sea vistas that make it a charming place to unwind. Koreans flock to Busan's beaches, hot springs, and nature reserves, reveling in its relaxed, coastal culture, a sharp contrast to the intensity and size of Seoul.
Hiroshima, Japan
Although still haunted with its status of being the world's first city to be the subject of nuclear warfare, Hiroshima today is one of the world's centers for studies on peace and social issues. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial cannot be missed, but other museums in Hiroshima hold some of the largest collections of French Renaissance and contemporary art in Japan.
Kyoto (Osaka), Japan
In a picturesque basin surrounded by wooded hills, Kyoto is known as Japan's most beautiful city. Though modernized today, it remains a center of traditional Japanese culture, with thousands of Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, gardens and palaces. Make time to stroll Shirakawa Dori, the most beautiful street in this former imperial capital of Japan.
Kagoshima, Japan
Discover the natural beauty of seaside Kagoshima, a city surrounded by beautiful mountain backdrops and dozens of local hot springs. While nearly all visitors make their way to see the volcanic heights of Mt. Sakurajima, attractions such as the historic village of Chiran and the Kagoshima Botanical Garden prove equally compelling places to stop and take a deep breath.
Taipei, Taiwan
Enjoy the contrasts of Taipei: lively clubs and ancient temples; skyscrapers and small street markets; bustling streets and peaceful gardens. Taipei is a city that sleeps late: a stroll through the night markets is a must to experience the eating, socializing, and shopping that the residents do well into the night. Visit the National Palace Museum to view the world's largest collection of Chinese art treasures, and stop by Taipei 101, the world's tallest building since its completion in 2004.
Hong Kong, China
From its humble beginnings as a trading port, through its time as a British crown colony, Hong Kong today is one of the world's greatest cities, considered by may to be the financial and cultural capital of Asia. Renowned for its glittering skyline, Hong Kong effortlessly blends East and West in its cuisine, cinema, music, and traditions.
