Get acquainted with the romantic city of Havana and its people through interactions with the residents, visiting communities, sharing stories and experiences. Of special interest for our travelers, we will visit several artists and explore the museums and art scene in Havana. We will also have an opportunity to meet with officials and members of the Cuban gay & lesbian community and learn about their struggles and successes in bringing about an atmosphere of acceptance.
After falling in love with Havana & a day visiting Cuba's tobacco growing region, it's on to Trinidad, a World Heritage Site, and an outstanding example of a colonial city.

If you do not live in South Florida (withind driving distance of Miami International Airport), you will need to plan to come to Miami (or the nearby area) at least one day before departure,i.e. Sat Apr 2. Day 1 - Sunday, March 27, 2016
9:00am – Check in at Miami International Airport for your charter flight to Havana (Typically an MD80 aircraft)
1:00pm - Fly Miami to Havana, arriving 2:00pm.
Welcome to Havana! Upon arrival in the dynamic city of Havana, we'll clear immigration and customs and meet our Cuban guide at the airport. On our way to the hotel, discover breathtaking colonial buildings, the picturesque, seaside Malecón and other iconic sites. We'll see prominent landmarks, former palaces, scenic squares and locals going about their daily routines as we drive through the streets dotted with Russian-built Ladas and a rainbow assortment of vintage American cars.
Check-in to the hotel and gather around for a quick orientation with the tour leader.
This evening we dine at Paladar Moneda Cubana, where the mojitos are among the best on the island.

Day 2 - Monday, March 28, 2016
Our first morning will start with a stroll through the streets of historic Havana Vieja, exploring the famous Cathedral Square, Plaza de Armas, and the City Museum. The city has been restored to its historic splendor by UNESCO World Heritage; it exudes colonial charm at its finest and is a must-see for all travelers. On our walk we'll stop by El Taller Experimental de Gráfica—The Experimental Graphics Studio. Founded in 1962 by mural artist Orlando Suarez with the support of Che Guevara, who was the minister of industry at the time, this studio/workshop is still thriving today.
Lunch is at a local paladar.
After lunch, we will stop at Malpaso Dance, one of the first independent dance companies in Cuba. We will watch a rehearsal and interact with the dancers and the founder of the company who will explain the life of a dancer in Cuba, the struggles to create this company and finally the success.
This evening dinner at is at the gay-owned paladar, La Esperanza.

Day 3 - Tuesday, March 29, 2016
Depart for Cienfuegos province. Upon arrival in Cienfuegos, take a brief city tour and enjoy lunch at the ocean-side restaurant, Villa Largarto. After lunch, we witness a performance by the Cienfuegos Choir, a group of wonderfully talented singers from across the whole island. The Choir receives some government funding, but the majority of the singers supplement their incomes by teaching, many of them at the local university. Check-in at our hotel.
Dinner will be at Paladar Casa Prado, a private restaurant..

Day 4 - Wednesday, March 30, 2016
Drive to Trinidad this morning with a stop in Valle de Los Ingenios or Valley of the Sugar Mills. Valle de Los Ingenios is a living museum of the sugar industry, featuring 75 ruined sugar mills, summer mansions, barracks, and other facilities related to the field. The famous Manaca-Iznaga Tower, built in 1816, is 45 m high, and the tolling of its bells once marked the beginning and end of working hours on the sugar plantations.
Continue to Trinidad, founded in 1514 and now a World Heritage Site, and an outstanding example of a colonial city. Start the day with a stroll through the cobblestone streets, nestled in between the Caribbean Sea to the south and the Sierra del Escambray mountain range to the north. You'll stop at the Museum of Architecture to meet with an expert who will discuss the origin and development of this colonial city.
Lunch at a private restaurant. After lunch, you'll be treated to a folkloric music and dance session by the Ballet Folklorico de Trinidad. Or stop into one of the clubs to hear the music. Continue exploration of the Colonial City to meet with several handicraft artists. Return to the Cienfuegos. Enjoy dinner at a local paladar or at the hotel in Cienfuegos.

Day 5 - Thursday, March 31, 2016
Depart Cienfuegos and drive back to Havana. Arrive Havana continue to the fishing village of Cojimar. It was an inspiration for Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. Lunch will be at Bodega Las Brisas. Afterwards, drive to the former home of Ernest Hemingway, La Finca Vigia, to see the rooms as they were left in 1961. Return to the hotel for check in. Dinner this evening will be at a local restaurant.

Day 6 - Friday, April 1, 2016
Drive over to Jaimanitas to see the studio of Jose Fuster, considered "the Picasso of the Caribbean". Jose engraves & sketches and is also one of Cuba's most original ceramists. As you enter the gray, concrete neighborhood with broken sidewalks and gravel roads, you begin to see ceramic splashes of color as you approach to Jose Fuster's gallery and home, popularly called, Fusterlandia. His artwork embodies life in Cuba. Lunch at a local restaurant.
This afternoon we will visit the Cultural Center of "El Divino" for a musical presentation by "Compas Danz."
Dinner is on your own this evening. Recommendations will be made by your tour leader and guide. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7 - Saturday, April 2, 2016
After breakfast, drive to the Museum of Fine Arts where we meet with an art historian for a guided educational tour. Discover four centuries of art created on the island, from the colonial period through the 19th century and 20th century avant-garde, and the new generations since the 1950s up to young artists of the 1990s. Afterwards, walk to the Revolution Museum, where the offices of all presidents from Menocal to Batista where located prior to the revolution.

This evening Classic Cars will come to our hotel to take us to dinner at Le Chansonnier, a popular gay-owned paladar.

Around noon, we will transfer to the airport for our flight to Miami, departing at 3:00pm.
