South America Gay Daddy Cruise 2027 From Argentina to Chile
15 nights from Buenos Aires, Argendina to Santiago (San Antonio), Chile
March 09 24, 2027
Holland America Line Oosterdam
Sail to the end of the world - exploring pristine fjords and gigantic glaciers in comfort unimagined by the region’s early explorers! Come join our intimate and super-friendly gay group of Daddies, gay men, bears, admirers and friends for a special 15-night cruise from Argentina to Chile, aboard the Holland America Line's Oosterdam. Trace the rugged coast from Argentina to Chile. Experience dynamic Buenos Aires on an overnight, sail the serene Glacier Alley and sip your way through spectacular Puerto Montt.
Prepare to get wild. South America cruises explore a continent rich in ancient ruins, cosmopolitan cities, and all types of terrain, from the towering Andes to lush rainforests and Patagonian grasslands.
Chile is long, lean, and loaded with astonishing wonders, which Holland America Line reveals during your South America voyage. Raft the Petrohue River in Puerto Montt, visit the UNESCO-designated churches of Chiloe from Castro, and make celestial discoveries at the Cerro Tololo Observatory near Coquimbo. Holland America Line opens cellar doors at wineries in the Rosario and Casablanca valleys near San Antonio, while Puerto Arenas serves as gateway to cool adventures in Patagonia.
Cape Horn marks the entrance to the Drake Passage, where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet. Until the Panama Canal opened in 1914, this was one of the planet’s major shipping routes. Strong winds, currents, waves and icebergs made the passage fairly treacherous in the days of sailing ships.
Dramatic, fantastical, otherworldly - Ushuaia is the end of the world, for real. Positioned at the southernmost tip of Argentina, this memorable port town is cradled between the pristine - and towering - Martial Mountains and accessed by the picturesque Beagle Channel. Ushuaia is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego region, which is best described as a spectacular collection of superlative natural wonders. It’s a veritable kaleidoscope of glittering glaciers, snowcapped mountains, dense forests, sparkling lakes and windswept plains spread across an archipelago of rugged islands.
Chile famously stretches for some 4,300 kilometers (2,700 miles) along the Pacific Ocean, a long, narrow country. Over its bottom half, countless channels, fjords, islands and massive glaciers, all formed by tectonic pressure, resemble scattered puzzle pieces.
Darwin Channel offers a breathtaking journey through Chile’s maze of massive glaciers, narrow fjords, and forested islands. It is named for biologist and naturalist Charles Darwin, an early visitor to the region. This route showcases nature’s grandeur, offering Holland America’s guests a unique perspective on Patagonia’s lesser-known treasures.
If Punta Arenas exudes an "edge of the world" air, it's not without reason. This windblown city near Chile's southernmost tip sits on the Strait of Magellan, which itself is positioned squarely between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. From penguin spotting on Isla Magdalena and kayaking the Strait of Magellan to visiting area farms and then indulging in surf-and-turf specialties (here meaning fresh seafood and asado, or Chilean barbecue) at local restaurants, Punta Arenas is worth a stopover all its own.
San Antonio, Chile is large, modern port and serves Chile’s capital, Santiago, a city with Spanish colonial charm and a vivacious spirit. Encircled by the Andes and the Coastal Range, Santiago is centered around the Plaza de Armas, with several of the city’s landmarks: the 18th-century Metropolitan Cathedral the Palacio de la Real Audencia from 1808, the City Hall and the National Museum of History. North of San Antonio lie the picturesque old port and university town of Valparaíso and the colorful seaside resort of Viña del Mar. In between the coast and the capital are valleys filled with some of Chile’s most famous wineries, all inviting you to come and taste.

Day 1- Buenos Aires, Argentina
The fun begins the moment you board the Oosterdam - which has been designed from bow to stern for your fun and enjoyment. As we overnight in Buenos Aires, we’ll gather for a hosted Daddy Cruise Welcome Aboard Party shortly after boarding. Here, you’ll meet your fellow cruisers and start making new friends right away.
Day 2 - Buenos Aires, Argentina Founded in the early 16th century, Buenos Aires was transformed from a colonial port into a cosmopolitan metropolis - the "Paris of the South" - by the cattle boom of the 1880s. As in the American West, boom was followed by bust. But that did not stop Buenos Aires from becoming the city it is today. With its air of haunted grandeur, Buenos Aires is a place of icy intellect and smoldering passion. It is a city where the elegant Colon Theater, one of the world's great opera houses, stands in counterpoint to the working class barrios that gave birth to the tango.
Day 3 - Montevideo, Uruguay
Nestled between the continent's two giants, Brazil and Argentina, Uruguay is the second smallest country in South America. More than half of the nation's population of three million reside in the capital of Montevideo. Although small in size, Uruguay has proven to be big-hearted - the country is one of the most literate nations in the world while Montevideo is one of South America's most interesting and cosmopolitan capitals.
Days 4 & 5 - Fun Days at Sea!
Our first of several full days at sea. Relax, unwind and settle into vacation mode. Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on...
Day 6 - Stanley, Falkland Islands / Islas Malvinas
The world's southernmost capital, Stanley is located in the Falklands archipelago, which consists of two main islands, East and West Falkland, along with smaller islands nearby. Stanley is proud of its British heritage, evidenced everywhere from its red telephone boxes to its pubs. Colorful houses occupy the low rolling moorland bordering Stanley Harbor. While Stanley's climate resembles London's - cool and rainy most of the year, summer visitors–like us–are often blessed with clear, sunny skies. Oh, and this is a great place to get up close and personal with penguins!
Day 7 - Cape Horn Scenic Cruising
Located on Chile's Isla Hornos in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, Cape Horn is widely considered to be the southernmost tip of South America. The culmination of the Andes mountain range, the legendary Cape is prone to unpredictably strong winds, choppy waters, icebergs and rogue waves - none of which phase the Oosterdam. Nevertheless, hazardous maritime conditions have protected the rocky region from human settlement, so we’'ll enjoy the same views as the earliest explorers discovered centuries ago. Unusual rock formations with deep grooves and granite cliffs covered in trees are its signature features.
Day 8 - Ushuaia, Argentina Magellan called it Tierra del Fuego, "the Land of Fire," having seen flames rising from the darkened islands. For over three centuries, the name struck fear in the hearts of mariners. Howling headwinds, mountainous seas and rocky coastlines spelled a sudden end to many voyages. Today, Ushuaia, a former Argentine penal colony, serves as your gateway to this wilderness where snow-capped mountains plummet to the icy waters of the Beagle Channel. Perhaps ride the Train of the End of the World through the breathtaking scenery of Tierra del Fuego National Park.
Day 8 - Beagle Channel Cruising Running through the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the Beagle Channel is a scenic and wonderfully calm strait that has become a hugely popular cruise destination. Some 240 kilometers long (almost 150 miles), the channel extends from Nueva Island in the east to Darwin Sound and Cook Bay in the west. Its western end lies within Chile, and its eastern end forms a segment of the border between Chile and Argentina.
Day 8 - Glacier Alley Scenic Cruising As alleys go, this one is mighty long. Glacier Alley—or, as it’s more elegantly known, Avenue of the Glaciers—stretches along a good portion of the celebrated 240-kilometer-long (150-mile-long) Beagle Channel in the vast territory of Tierra del Fuego.
Day 9 - Punta Arenas, Chile Punta Arenas lies atop rolling hills, looking out over the Strait of Magellan. In the days before the Panama Canal, this was a major port as ships plied the waters of Cape Horn. Punta Arenas remains a prosperous town today, thanks to its rich natural resources. The city is also the gateway to Chilean Patagonia, a maze of fjords, rivers, steppes, and mountains to the north. To the south lies the great frozen mass of Antarctica. Adventure awaits in any direction at this port located near the end of the earth.
Day 10 - Sarmiento Channel Scenic Cruising One of the main channels in Patagonia, the Sarmiento Channel runs in a north-south direction, starting at the Guía Narrows and finishing at the southern edge of Victoria Pass, where it joins the Smyth Channel. As elsewhere in the Chilean fjord region, the ragged coastline is cut with inlets set among snow-covered mountain ranges.
Day 11 - Cockburn Channel Cruising As you near the southern tip of South America, traveling along the Chilean or Pacific coast, you'll know that you're approaching the Cockburn (pronounced "CO-burn") Channel when you see the twin rocks that guard its entrance.
Day 12 - Pio XI Glacier (Bruggen Glacier), Chile Along the journey north, you’ll be graced by the presence of snowcapped mountain peaks, majestic forests and spectacular blue-tinged glaciers that will take your breath away. The unspoiled scenery is filled with dramatic rock formations and abundant wildlife known for making their homes here, including sea lions, Peale's dolphins and a variety of seabirds that soar amid the splendor.
Day 13 - Darwin Channel Scenic Cruising Darwin Channel offers a breathtaking journey through Chile’s maze of massive glaciers, narrow fjords, and forested islands. It is named for biologist and naturalist Charles Darwin, an early visitor to the region. This route showcases nature’s grandeur, offering Holland America’s guests a unique perspective on Patagonia’s lesser-known treasures.
Day 14 - Puerto Montt, Chile Puerto Montt, the capital of the Los Lagos region of Chile, is often called the gateway to the country’s glacial lakes, volcanic landscapes and surrounding national parks. The port is also home to an over-100-year-old German settlement as well as to indigenous communities of Mapuche people. Even a short visit, however, provides a fascinating look into Chile’s diverse cultures and offers a taste of the country's stunning scenery.
Day 15 - Fun Day at Sea! Your last full day at sea! Relax and enjoy. Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on.
Day 16 - San Antonio (Santiago), Chile This large, modern port serves Chile’s capital, Santiago, a city with Spanish colonial charm and a vivacious spirit. North of San Antonio lie the picturesque old port and university town of Valparaíso and the colorful seaside resort of Viña del Mar. In between the coast and the capital are valleys filled with some of Chile’s most famous wineries, all inviting you to come and taste. Now join us for a post-cruise extension tour to see Chile’s great capital.
