La Demence European Gay Cruise 2013
June 310, 2013
Pullmantur Cruises Zenith
LA DEMENCE CRUISE is very proud to announce its third European gay cruise in the Mediterranean Sea from Monday, June 3rd, till Monday, June 10th, 2013 with a departure and arrival in Athens (Greece).
The very exclusive itinerary will include the marvelous Greek islands of Santorini and Patmos, and bring you to the amazing Holy Land of Israel where we will stay 2 days.
Expect not only a cultural cruise, but also some very relaxing time on the beach or at the pool, and enjoy the best open air summer parties.
Zenith, the sister ship of Horizon (from the 2011 and 2012 cruises), has been chartered entirely and exclusively for you, in order to recreate our very friendly, familiar, open-minded and easy going atmosphere.
Be prepared for a week that you will remember for the rest of your life ! Ask to those who already participated to a LA DEMENCE Cruise…
The medium-sized ship has 700 cabins, be sure you don't miss it!
A Day On Board
This is your holiday, so you will wake up at the time
of your convenience.
You will probably be hungry, so you can go for breakfast, lunch or dinner to one of the restaurants. There is a restaurant a la carte, a buffet restaurant, and 24h snacks. All foods and non-alcoholic drinks are inclusive.
Relaxing Days...
Why not start the day with a fitness session? If you like to go ashore for a visit, you're free to quit the ship and return at any time of your convenience. Alternatively, you can stay aboard to enjoy the pools and Jacuzzis with a delicious cocktail and excellent lounge music. You can choose between the quiet sun deck with a nudist area, or the day activities around the pool, like the Mister LA DEMENCE Cruise election.
Many other options are provided on board: the internet room, the library, several shops, a massage or a sauna at the Spa, or a visit to the gym and fitness center.
Exciting Evenings !
In the late afternoon, party time starts with a sunset T-dance at the pool with a very colorful theme: Where are you from?, Disco, Ladies t-dance.
After that, you can have a romantic or group dinner in the a la carte restaurant, and continue the evening enjoying one of the amazing shows in the Broadway Theatre.
At midnight you can go to the pool for the best open air night parties on a gay cruise: white party, fetish night, military,.... You will be dancing under the stars in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea on the beats of the best LA DEMENCE djs. With an open air cruising area…
As the pool party approaches its end, those who want to go on, can descend the ship to the after party at Rainbow disco, where the party will go on till very early…
Ship & Cabins Zenith is the sister ship of Horizon, that La Demence have
been chartering during our previous cruises in
2011 and 2012. It is operating for the Spanish
cruise company Pullmantur.
Its medium-size is perfect: big enough to have a
huge pool area for relax and party, and not too big,
so that you can always find your (new) friends,
and keep our "familiar" cruise concept.
Another advantage is that she can anchor
in places like the tiny Patmos, where big cruise
ships cannot come.
FAQ - Our Passengers
What type of passenger ?
There is not a type of typical passenger: you will find all types, ages and nationalities represented on board, which creates a very friendly and familiar atmosphere. That's what makes this cruise so special !
Is there a minimum age ?
The minimum age is 18 years at the time of boarding the ship.
Are women welcome ?
You will mainly find gay men on board, but we are more than happy to have some "crazy women" and lesbians with us!
Are pets welcome ?
Animals are not allowed on board, so you will have to look for a babysitter for your dog or cat.
FAQ - Before Booking
What if I am travelling alone ?
You can book a room to share with another single in categories L (interior) or G (exterior). We will then put you together with someone of your age in the same cabin. You can of course also pay for 2, and then you will have your cabin for single occupancy. In that case, until 2 weeks before departure, you can give us the name of a person joining you in your cabin at no extra cost.
How many can we be in the same cabin ?
You will pay 500 € for the 3rd and 300 € for 4th passenger in the same cabin.
Do the cabins have one double bed or 2 small beds ?
Almost all the cabins have 2 small beds that can be converted into a double bed. Give us your preference when booking, and as long as your choice is available, you will have the bed you prefer.
How are the cabins assigned ?
You can give up your preferences when booking (deck level, front-middle-back of the ship, bed size, cabin number, close to other friends,…). Once your payment is accepted, we will take your preferences as much as possible into account and confirm you the number of your cabin. The earlier you book, the more we can comply with your requests, although the given cabin number is not legally binding, and could be changed in case of necessity.
What is a cabin with obstructed view ?
It means that the view through the cabin window is obstructed by a life-boat, which means that you only have a partial view through the window.
What is included in the price ?
All food 24h a day, all soft drinks, all parties, all shows, all entertainment, use of the sauna and gym. There will be a small service charge for room service.
What is not included in the price ?
All costs before you board the ship, and after you quit the ship (flights, hotels, transfers,…); alcoholic beverages on the ship (from 3,00 € for beer and wine; from 4,50 € for spirits), personal expenses (casino, Spa treatments, shops, internet, phone calls…); 72 € pp service charges for the crew, to be paid in board. Taxes and charges per person: Categories L-D - €139; Categories B-JS - €179; Categories JT-ST - €249. As well as 3% payment card processing charge, if paid by card.
Do I need a passport and visa ?
EU citizens need a passport with a validity until later than 7 December 2013. Non-EU citizens should inform which formalities they need to comply with in order to avoid a refusal of embarkation.
You will also need the cruise voucher that will be sent to you by email, one week before departure.
Can I cancel without any costs ?
Until 31 December 2012, you can cancel without any cost. Your deposit will be refunded entirely. After that date, the cancellation fees apply that are mentioned on the price list and on your confirmation.
Why should I take a cancellation insurance ?
The amounts paid for a cruise are important, so it would be a shame that you lose your money in case you cannot make the cruise due to unforeseen reasons like illness, a death decease in your family, etc… Holidaypride is offering you a cancellation insurance in partnership with TOURING, which is giving you a maximum of guarantees, and does not apply a franchise, so you will be covered for the whole amount.
But what if I already have an insurance with my credit card ?
Most of the free insurances that are offered with your credit card have very limited coverage, and sometimes even don't apply on cruises, so you should check the general conditions.
Do I need a travel assistance insurance ?
If you already have one, check whether it is valid on cruises. If not, we recommend to book it for 20 € per passenger, since medical costs and repatriation could be very expensive on a ship.
I have a special diet. What should I do ?
Aboard the ship everything will be done to comply with your diet, if you let us know 2 weeks before departure.
FAQ - Once Booked Excursions ?
In January we will send you a list of all excursions, and how to book them on line before boarding the ship. Is there a dress code ?
No way ! This is a LA DEMENCE cruise ! The ship is ours for a whole week, so we will dress the way we like to dress, when we like it, and where we like it !
We will only ask you to wear a t-shirt or tank-top inside the restaurants.
If you want to have a big laugh during the theme parties (disco, ladies night, military, fetish, white party, where are you from?…), we suggest to dress up according to the theme, but there is no obligation to do so.
There will be a nudist sunbathing zone.
What about the parties ?
There will be both t-dance parties, and night parties, in open air at the pool, with the best light and sound system and the LA DEMENCE djs ! The after parties will be inside the ships Rainbow disco until very early… Be ready for LA DEMENCE on water !
What about the shows ?
Every night at 23h30, after dinner, and before the night party starts, there will be a show in the 2-stories Broadway theatre.
Is it allowed to smoke ?
It is allowed to smoke in all outside areas.
Do I need cash on board ?
When boarding, you credit card will be charged a guarantee for your extra expenses. Or if you don't have a credit card, you can pay a guarantee in cash for the extra expenses. When checking out, you will have the choice to pay in cash or to be charged on your credit card. The non-used guarantee in cash will be refunded.
What about telecommunications ?
There is no internet connection in the cabins, but there is WIFI in the public areas. You will also find public computers. As the transfer is by satellite, it is slow and costly.
Mobile phones also work when sailing, by satellite so be aware of the cost.

Day 1 - June 3, 2013 Athens, Greece
The capital of Greece is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Acropolis, with its famous Parthenon, and also to the National Archeological Museum, featuring the world's largest collection of ancient Greek antiquities, as well as the new Acropolis Museum.
Have a walk and lunch in the typical Plaka area, and in the evening some drinks in the gay area of Gazi.
We highly recommend to stay, or go for a drink or dinner, at the Fresh Hotel, with its spectacular rooftop bar and restaurant overviewing the Acropolis and the city.
Day 2 - June 4, 2013 Santorini, Greece
This Greek island island is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history, which occurred some 3600 years ago, and caused a gigantic tsunami, which destroyed the Minoan civilization on the island of Crete.
Santorini is essentially what remains after this enormous volcanic explosion that destroyed the earliest settlements on a formerly single island, and created the current geological caldera. A giant central, rectangular lagoon, which measures about 12 by 7 km, and is surrounded by 300 m high, steep cliffs on three sides, offering spectacular views from the ship.
On the island there are many things to visit: the archeological site of Akrotiri, the charming villages of Oia and Thira, or the volcano crater and hot springs.
Day 3 - June 5, 2013 Day at Sea
Day 4 & 5 - June 6 - 7, 2013 Ashdod, Israel
After a relaxing day at sea we will reach the Holy Land and dock
for 2 days in Ashdod, the closest port to Tel Aviv (30 km), and Jerusalem (70 km).
These 2 days will allow you the visit the highlights of Israel.
Free shuttle buses will bring you from Ashdod to
Tel Aviv and back.
Jerusalem, Israel
The walls of the Holy City, contain four quarters—known since the early 19th century as the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters.
The Holy City Jerusalem has been the holiest city in Jewish tradition since, according to the Hebrew Bible, King David of Israel first established it as the capital of the united Kingdom of Israel and his son,
King Solomon, commissioned the building of the First Temple in the city.
In Christian tradition, Jerusalem has been a holy city since, according to the New Testament, Jesus was crucified there. In Sunni Islam, Jerusalem is the third-holiest city.In Islamic tradition it became the first Qibla, the focal point for Muslim prayer, and Muhammad made his Night Journey there.
As a result, despite having an area of only 0.9 square kilometers, the Old City is home to many sites of tremendous religious importance, among them the Temple Mount and its Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The modern city also has a lot to offer: Yad Vashem Memorial, a large complex of buildings, museums and monuments designed to perpetuate the memory of victims who died during the Holocaust. The University, the Shrine of the Book, the Israel Museum and the Knesset (Parliament).
Dead Sea and Masada, Israel
Descend 421 meters to the lowest place on the surface of our planet: the Dead Sea. Take an "unsinkable" swim in the Dead Sea with its mineral rich water, fabled for its healing powers and rejuvenating qualities.
A cable car will bring you to the archeological site of Masada Fortress, located high above the Dead Sea's desolated landscape, and often described as the most spectacular site in Israel.
Tel Aviv, Israel
(Free shuttle buses will bring you from
Ashdod to Tel Aviv and back)
Begin your tour in Old Jaffa, the ancient entry to the land of Israel. See its beautiful stone buildings and arches, walk down its narrow, winding alleys, filled with artists' galleries all the way to the fishermen's port.
See modern Tel Aviv: Rothschild Boulevard, known for its 1930's Bauhaus buildings and extraordinary balconies, naming Tel Aviv
'The White City' and a World Heritage site. Continue to visit Yitzhak Rabin's Memorial, erected on the site of his assassination and end
at the Tel Aviv Sea Promenade with its magnificent gay beach, restaurants and cafes.
Nightlife and Tel Aviv Gay Pride !
Tel Aviv has a never ending nightlife which you will be able to discover, since we are staying overnight. We are working on a partnership to bring you to one of the biggest gay pride parties !
Friday 7 June 2013, our second day in Israel, is the day of the gay pride parade, followed by a sunset beach party.
Let's check if it is true that Tel Aviv gay pride is one of the best in the world, with the men the most beautiful men…
Day 6 - June 8, 2013 Day at Sea
Day 7 - June 9, 2013 Patmos, Greece
After the craziness of Tel Aviv gay pride, and a very relaxing day at sea, we will anchor in the bay of the tiny Greek island of Patmos, which has a population of only 3.000.
In 1999, the island's historic center Chora, along with the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse, were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. There are also some very nice beaches.
