Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Once the epicenter of Spring Break, today Fort Lauderdale is a year-round destination where culture and cuisine are in ample supply. Beautiful beaches, sunshine, coastline, nightclubs and superb restaurants await you in this Gold Coast enclave. More restaurants and shopping on Las Olas Boulevard or Himmarshee in downtown Ft. Lauderdale are a must.

This port city has been called the "Venice of America" due to a comprehensive canal network where you'll find gondolas docked on the Himmarshee Canal off Las Olas Boulevard. Enjoy extensive strolling, shopping, and dining opportunities, as well as the best of sand and sun.

Everglades National Park
Covering the southern tip of Florida, the Everglades is pristine wetlands that have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is known for its rich birdlife and is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles co-exist.

Flamingo Gardens
These lush gardens comprise 60 acres (24 hectares) showcasing rare, exotic and native plants including 22 champion trees. Attractions include the Everglades "Free Flight" Aviary, Alligator Lagoon, River Otter and Bobcat Habitats, Birds of Prey Centre and the Wildlife Encounter.

Intracoastal Waterway
Considered the "Venice of America," Ft. Lauderdale consists of 300 miles (483km) of navigable inland waterways lined with multimillion-dollar mansions, estates, and yachts belonging to the rich and famous.

Malaga, Spain

A bustling coastal city and the capital of Costa del Sol, Malaga is the second largest port in Spain. One of the most interesting places to explore is the old historic quarter, which dates back nearly 800 years. The birthplace of Pablo Picasso, Malaga boasts miles of beautiful beaches, picturesque gardens and fantastic weather.

Located along the Southern Coast of Spain, Malaga is known to many as the capitol of the Costa del Sol or "Sun Coast". With resort towns bordering the city both to the east and the west, Málaga is a very popular attraction to many visitors throughout Europe. The city is very busy, and one of its unique characteristics is its small garden lined streets that tend to be hidden by newer high rises.

In the past the Costa del Sol has been known for its tiny fishing villages. These villages have now all been replaced with large retirement and resort towns filled with Europeans and Spaniards. The coast is beautifully decorated with small cottages and villas that are covered with bougainvillea and jasmine

Malaga is home to over half a million residents and reflects the personality of its inhabitants: unhurried, charming and warm. For visitors the message is clear, forget where you come from, leave your watch at home, relax and go local. Just outside Málaga are the villages of Mijas and Marbella, which are pretty little towns with expansive panoramic views of the Spanish countryside.

Beyond Malaga is the famous region of Andalusía. This area stretches across the South of Spain and includes such famous sites as the city of Granada and the Palace of Alhambra. The region is also known for its lovely villages with whitewashed cottages.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is located in the northeastern part of the country, 90 miles south of the French border. People from all around the world enjoy visiting this city for its individuality, cultural interest and physical beauty. When Hans Christian Andersen visited in 1862, he remarked that Barcelona was the "Paris of Spain." You're likely to agree. The city is a major cultural center with a fascinating history. Everywhere are archives, libraries, museums and buildings of interest - plus superb examples of modernist and Art Nouveau decor and architecture.

Barcelona is the most important city of Catalonia as well as being the administrative capital. With a population of approximately 3 million, it is the second largest city in Spain and the largest on the Mediterranean coast. Nestled between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, Barcelona enjoys a mild sunny climate. It's a bustling city, an important sea port and center of commerce.

The people are lively and active, immensely proud of their Catalonian culture, as seen by the use of their own Catalonian language in books, newspapers, television and radio programs. Barcelona was the host of the 1992 Olympics which helped to rejuvenate some areas of the City, improving the roads and tourist facilities.

Monumento a Colom (Columbus Monument)
is situated at the bottom of Las Ramblas, on the water-front. It is possible to take an elevator to the top for a view of the entire city.

Las Ramblas
, stretching from the water-front to Placa de Cata lunya, this delightful, tree-lined boulevard is the center of activity. A variety of shops, particularly flower stalls, are to be found here making it a pleasant place to stroll along or watch the world go by from one of the many side-walk cafes.

Gothic Quarter
is the older part of the City, mainly a pedestrian area. The buildings here date from the 13th century and create a truly medieval atmosphere. Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, located within the Gothic Quarter, was built between 1298 and 1454, although the main facade and the spire were 19th century additions. The Cathedral was named after the 13 year old martyr, whose sarcophagus can be seen, carved in bas-relief, depicting her torture and execution. The Cathedral is built in classic, Catalonian gothic style, with 500 year old stained-glass windows.

Maritime Museum
occupies the Royal Medieval Dockyards, and is a naval museum containing ships, figure heads and nautical exhibits as well as details of Columbus' Voyages of Discovery.

Picasso Gallery,
located on Carrer de Montcada, several adjoining 15th century palaces house a collection of over 2,000 exhibits of Picasso's earlier works, as well as paintings done later in his lifetime. Picasso came to Barcelona at the age of 14 to study art.

La Sagrada Familia
on Calle de Cerdena, is one of the architect Gaudí's most famous works. The Cathedral, begun in 1882 is still under construction although Gaudí died in 1926. Gaudí is buried in the crypt. It is possible to take an elevator to the top of one of the towers for a panoramic view.

Zoo,
located in the Parc de la Cuitadella is ranked among the top zoos in Spain. The Barcelona Zoo is also one of the oldest and most modern zoos in the world. Founded in 1892, the enclosures at the Barcelona Zoo are of open construction.

Palau Güell,
just off Las Ramblas, is another of Gaudí's works. Built between 1885 and 1890, this mansion is of unique design, its facade features some interesting ironwork. Palau Güell is also the home of the Museum for the Performing Arts, and as such, is open to the public. Parc Güell on the outskirts of the City, represents Gaudí's attempt at a garden city designed to house 60 families. It remains unfinished.

Mont Juic,
named for a Jewish community that once lived on its slopes, is a rather small mountain, reaching no more than 700 ft. Montjuïc was the site for the main stadium for the 1992 Olympic Games>
