Take a short drive to the modern neighborhood in Marrakesh known as “Gueliz”. Visit the exotic Majorelle Gardens (named after the original owner, the Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle) with its exotic botanical collection. This is also the final resting place of YSL and Pierre Berge. Walk through the Berber Museum which holds Morocco’s largest collection of its indigenous people. It was the private collection of Pierre Berge, Yves Saint Laurent’s partner.
Next, spend time in the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (which is next door), dedicated to the famous French fashion designer who called Morocco his second home. Many of his creations are on display and there is a theatre which shows a short film about his life and contribution to the haute couture industry.
The backstory of the Majorelle compound is a Franco-American saga revolving around six very gifted people: French Orientalist painter Jacques Majorelle; legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent; YSL’s partner, the French industrialist, collector, and philanthropist Pierre Bergé; French decorator Jacques Grange; bohemian American expat and architect Bill Willis; and American garden designer Madison Cox. When should I schedule my flights?
Arrival: Schedule your flights to arrive at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) by March 19, 2028. The first activity will be a welcome dinner at the hotel.
Departure: Schedule your departure from Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) at any time on March 29, 2028. Hotel check-out time is 11:00 am that day.
What are the passport or visa requirements?
U.S. citizens must possess a valid passport with at least six (6) months validity beyond their arrival date in Morocco.
No visa is required for tourist stays of up to 90 days. Proof of onward or return travel may be requested upon arrival.
What arrival and departure transfers are included?
Arrival: You will be transferred from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) to the Royal Mansour hotel or another independently booked hotel.
Departure: You will be transferred from the Sofitel Palais Imperial Marrakesh to the Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) or another independently booked hotel. After which no further transfer will be offered.
If you extend your stay at these properties, the transfers will still be included. Contact our team to ensure arrangements outside of these arrival and departure transfers will be included. Booked guests should provide their arrival and departure details 45 days prior (February 3, 2028) to the trip to ensure transfer availability.
What if I have dietary requirements?
We will make every effort to accommodate special dietary requests. Please inform our office at least 45 days (February 3, 2028) prior to departure.
What are pre-paid gratuities?
Gratuities are customary expressions of appreciation for a job well done. It is our goal to ensure that the service you receive is as wonderful as the sites you visit. Gratuities for the included portions of this program have been pre-paid. At your own discretion you may choose to provide additional tips.
What should I expect on the included tours?
Excursions during your travel program are led by expert English speaking local guides. Utilizing wireless audio guides enables you to hear every word of your travel guide at absolutely all times. It provides maximum flexibility and convenience without missing a moment of fascinating commentary and is compatible with hearing aids.
Is there a dress code?
You are on vacation as the last thing we want to impose is a dress code. We will however appreciate you wearing more than a thong or mankini at lunch and dinner. Be as dressed up or down as you see fit as long as you are comfortable and dress appropriately for changeable weather.
Are vaccinations required?
Most US travelers are covered by routine vaccinations. US citizens should consult the Centers for Disease Control website or your health care provider for vaccination requirements and recommendations. Citizens of all other countries should consult their government’s national disease center or their physician.
