Cape Town, South Africa: Cape Point Tour
Cape Point gay tourVenture along the iconic route up Chapman’s Peak and on to the spectacular sight of Cape Point, with its towering stone cliffs, breathtaking bays, beaches, and rolling green hills and valleys.

Chapman’s Peak Drive winds it way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. Situated on the Atlantic Coast, at the south-western tip of South Africa, it is one of the most spectacular marine drives anywhere in the world. The 9km route, with its 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman’s Peak, the 593m high southerly extension of Constantia Berg. The drive offers stunning 180° views over the ocean and mountains with Hout Bay in the distance.

Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, established in 1939 to protect 7750 ha of indigenous flora and fauna. The reserve comes to an end at majestic Cape Point. Situated at the junction of two of earth’s most contrasting water masses – the cold Benguela current on the West Coast and the warm Agulhas current on the East Coast, the Cape of Good Hope is popularly perceived as the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. You will take the funicular to the vantage point from where they will be able to witness the “meeting of the two oceans.” We then stop for lunch in the town of Simon.

Thereafter travel through the historic naval base of Simon’s Town where you will be able to visit a colony of African Penguins in their natural environment at Boulders Beach.

Stellenbosch – 45 minutes from Cape Town city centre, a warm welcome awaits you, the visitor, to the Stellenbosch Wine Route – the first in South Africa – founded in 1971. Stellenbosch consists of tree lined streets and historical architecture. Guests can explore the popular Dorp Street and Oom Samie se Winkel.

Franschhoek -The Gourmet Capital, surrounded by majestic mountains culminating in an awe-inspiring pass, provides added value to the food and wine experience. Visit the Hugeunot museum.

Trip Notes

International Flights
Delta, KLM, South African Airways and Emirates are among the airlines that can be used to book international airfare for this tour. You should plan to arrive in Johannesburg (JNB) on Tuesday, October 6 and depart on Friday, October 16, 2020. We recommend booking at least 7 months in advance if you want to use Frequent Flyer Miles or the American Express Platinum card 2-4-1 program.

Travel Documents
South Africa requires travelers to have two completely blank visa pages in their passports upon every arrival in South Africa. You will be denied entry and forced to return to your point of origin if you do not have two blank visa pages. Two pages to enter Zimbabwe and three pages for Zambia, you will also need additional space in your passport for stamps in Botswana. South African officials take this requirement very seriously and will turn you around if you do not have sufficient pages.

No immunizations are required for travel on this tour. However, the Center for Disease Control suggests that all travelers be up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTaP) vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and an annual flu shot. They emphasize the importance of being fully vaccinated for measles in this area.

Malaria Prevention
Malaria is a serious but preventable disease spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. All travelers are urged to take antimalarial medications, available only by prescription. Please discuss antimalarial medication with your doctor, who will explain various antimalarials and their side effects and recommend a regimen for you. In addition to medication, a further precaution against malaria is to wear long sleeves and long pants at dusk. Thin clothing should be sprayed with insect repellent, especially around the elbows and ankles. Use repellent containing DEET.
