Athens Gay Trip

Greece Luxury Gay Tour Itinerary

Days 1, and 2 - Athens, Greece
Welcome to Greece. Upon arrival in Athens, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in the heart of the city.

Athens is one of those rare places where the ancient and modern exist side by side, and historic ruins rise above lively neighborhoods, café culture spills into the streets, and every corner seems to carry another layer of history.

After time to settle in, meet your group and trip leader and kick off the journey together with welcome drinks and dinner. It's the perfect first evening to ease into the trip, get to know one another, and toast to the adventure ahead.

The next day, we dive into Greek history, beginning with its most iconic ancient sites and the cultural legacy that shaped the Western world.

We'll explore the Acropolis and the neighborhoods below it, walk through the atmospheric streets of Plaka, and take in the energy of a city that feels both historic and distinctly current.

We also weave in Athens' LGBTQ+ history and present-day culture, giving a fuller perspective on the city beyond the classic landmarks.

In the evening, we head into Athens' gay district for dinner, drinks, and a night out, experiencing a more contemporary side of the city and setting the tone for the fun and connection that builds throughout the trip.

Santorini gay tour

Days 3, and 4 - Santorini, Greece
On Day 3 we fly to Santorini, one of the most iconic and visually striking islands in the world.

Rising dramatically above the Aegean Sea, Santorini is all whitewashed villages, blue domes, winding paths, and incredible panoramic caldera views.

After arriving, we begin exploring the island's beauty and contrasts, from traditional inland villages to dramatic cliffside viewpoints and volcanic landscapes shaped by one of the most famous eruptions in history. This first taste of Santorini captures both its elegance and its raw natural beauty.

The following day brings one of the trip's signature experiences: a sunset catamaran cruise on the Aegean. Spend the afternoon sailing beneath Santorini's cliffs, passing volcanic beaches and rock formations, with time to swim, snorkel, sunbathe, and simply enjoy being out on the water. With drinks flowing and dinner served on board, the whole experience feels effortless.

As the sky turns gold and the sun begins to sink into the sea, Santorini puts on the kind of sunset it's known for, and there are few better places to take it all in than from the deck of a private catamaran.

Naxos Greece gay tour

Days 5, 6, and 7 - Naxos & Paros, Greece
From Santorini, we ferry to Naxos, an island that offers a different rhythm and a more grounded, authentic side of the Cyclades.

Less polished than Santorini and all the better for it, Naxos is full of traditional villages, local farms, mountain scenery, old stone streets, and a food culture that is deeply rooted in the island itself.

After arriving, we explore Naxos Town, where mythology, Venetian history, and everyday Greek island life all come together.

As the light softens toward sunset, the atmosphere here is especially magical, and dinner gives us our first taste of the warm hospitality and strong culinary identity that define the island.

The next day, we go deeper into Naxos, exploring its villages, local traditions, and countryside. Visit important historic sites, discover local craftsmanship, and sample some of the island's best-known products and flavors. This is the Greece that many travelers hope to find: beautiful, relaxed, welcoming, and still closely tied to local life.

We enjoy a long, leisurely lunch in one of the island's villages before returning to the coast for dinner by the sea.

Paros Greece gay tour

On our final day in Naxos, we'll take a full-day trip to nearby Paros, another stunning Cycladic island with its own distinct personality. Here, we explore elegant villages, charming harbor towns, historic sites, and beautiful stretches of coastline.

Paros feels refined but relaxed, stylish without losing its authenticity. It adds another layer to the journey and offers an even broader look at island life in Greece before we continue on to our final stop.

Mykonos gay tour

Days 8, 9, 10 and 11 - Mykonos, Greece
Next, we travel to Mykonos, the most famous gay island in Greece and one of the world's most celebrated LGBTQ+ destinations. But Mykonos is much more than beach clubs and nightlife.

On arrival, we get to know the island through both Mykonos Town and the surrounding landscapes, exploring its maze of whitewashed lanes, iconic windmills, Little Venice, quiet corners, scenic beaches, and traditional village life. It's an island with unmistakable glamour, but also real beauty and personality beyond the party reputation.

Our first full day in Mykonos is intentionally left open for you to experience the island in your own way. You may choose to spend the day lounging at the famous Jackie O' Beach Club, browsing the boutiques and galleries tucked into the winding streets of Mykonos Town, joining a cooking class to learn traditional Greek dishes, or simply relaxing at our hotel and enjoying the pool and sea views. Mykonos is an island meant to be enjoyed slowly, and today gives you the freedom to experience it exactly as you like.

For our final full day, we celebrate in style with a private Delos sailing cruise. Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and the mythological birthplace of Apollo, adding one last powerful cultural moment to the journey.

From there, we continue to the nearby isle of Rhenia for swimming, relaxing on board, and soaking up the final hours of the trip in the Aegean sun.

Once the evening arrives, we head back for one last dinner together: a chance to raise a glass to the journey and the people who made it.

The next morning you can wake up at your own pace, enjoy a final breakfast, and head to the airport whenever you're ready.

Accommodation

This journey features a collection of premium boutique hotels throughout the trip:

Athens, Greece
Athens Capital Hotel - MGallery Collection, 5*
Athens Capital Hotel - MGallery Collection Consistently rated as one of the best hotels in Athens, the Athens Capital Hotel is a sophisticated urban retreat that weaves together contemporary design, bespoke artwork, and the timeless character of the city. Rooms feature Grecian marble, soft tones, and signature art installations that feel both luxurious and deeply rooted in place. Plus a rooftop pool overlooking the Acropolis doesn’t hurt. With the Plaka neighbourhood, Monastiraki, and the city's best boutique shopping all just steps away, you'll feel less like a tourist passing through and more like someone who simply happens to live in one of the most beautiful corners of the city.

Santorini, Greece
Athina Luxury Suites, 5*
Athina Luxury Suites, Santorini Perched directly on the caldera cliffs of Fira, Athina Luxury Suites is consistently rated one of the best boutique hotels on the island and it's easy to see why. Fully renovated in 2023, suites are carved into the volcanic rock in classic Santorinian cave style, with private terraces and unobstructed views of the volcano and the Aegean. The heated infinity pool with swim-up bar is just icing on the cake. Fira's restaurants, shops, and the famous caldera walking path are all just steps away, but once you're back at Athina, the outside world has a way of feeling very far away.

Naxos, Greece
Sundunes Hotel, 4+*
Sundunes Hotel Naxos Sitting directly on Plaka Beach, the hotel is a sleek boutique retreat with spacious suites, private pools, an infinity pool with panoramic sea views, and a rooftop restaurant that makes it genuinely hard to leave. Mornings start slow, afternoons are for the beach or wandering hilltop villages, and evenings end with long dinners and the kind of sunset that makes you want to extend the trip. Consider this your permission to do absolutely nothing.

Mykonos, Greece, 5*
Semeli Hotel
Semeli Hotel, MykonosMykonos is one of the most iconic islands in the world, and the Semeli is the ideal way to experience it without sacrificing a moment of sleep. Tucked into a quiet, elegant corner of Mykonos Town, it's close enough to walk to Little Venice, the windmills, and the best restaurants on the island, but far enough that you won't hear the clubs at 2 am. This boutique hotel was originally a private residence, and it still feels like one. It features whitewashed walls draped in bougainvillea, beautifully appointed rooms with marble bathrooms and sea views, two heated pools, a full spa, and unhurried, personalized service.

*Please note that due to availability, these exact hotels may not all be available during all our trips. However, we will always replace these with similar hotels.

Trip Notes

Your Arrival & Departure
Your journey begins at Athens International Airport (ATH), about 30 minutes from the city center.

The trip concludes on Mykonos. The island has its own airport (JMK). There are no scheduled activities on the final day, so you can leave at your convenience or extend your stay, which we'd genuinely recommend. The Cyclades are tough to leave.

Visa requirements are minimal for most travelers. EU citizens travel freely; US, Canadian, UK, Australian, and many other passport holders enter visa-free for up to 90 days.

Internal travel is built into the itinerary and coordinated by your Trip Leader: a flight from Athens to Santorini, high-speed ferry from Santorini to Naxos, a day trip to Paros, and ferry from Naxos to Mykonos. You move with the group throughout.

If you'd like to extend, more time in Athens, a stop in Crete, or a few days in the Peloponnese all reward the effort. We're happy to help arrange.

Climate
Both June and September sit within Greece's prime travel windows. Long, sun-filled days, minimal rain, warm Aegean water, and the kind of weather that makes the trip make sense.

June lands at the start of high summer. Days are warm to hot - Athens can reach the in the 90s°F (mid-30s°C) in the afternoons; the islands are typically a few degrees cooler, the sea is just starting to feel properly warm, and evenings are beautiful. Crowds haven't quite peaked yet.

September is also reliably warm and sunny, the Aegean is at its warmest (it's been heating all summer), and crowds easing off as the high season winds down. Temperatures run a few degrees cooler than June, evenings are mild, and daylight stretches long enough for everything you'd want to fit in.

Worth knowing: the meltemi, a strong northerly wind that blows across the Aegean in summer, can occasionally affect ferry schedules in the Cyclades, and it is more common in June than September. The trip is built with flexibility for this, and your Trip Leader monitors conditions; minor reroutes when needed are simply part of how the islands work.

Sun intensity in Greece is significant. High-SPF sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are not optional.

People and LGBTQ+ Friendliness
Same-sex marriage was legalized in February 2024, a meaningful milestone that makes Greece one of the most legally progressive destinations in southeastern Europe for LGBTQ+ travelers.

Athens has a thriving queer scene centered around the Gazi neighborhood (where you'll likely spend an evening on this trip), with bars, clubs, and a long-running Pride that draws travelers from across the region. Mykonos has been one of the world's most celebrated gay destinations since the 1960s, with internationally renowned beach clubs (Jackie O', Elia, Super Paradise), unmatched nightlife, and an entirely matter-of-fact welcoming culture across the island.

Naxos and Paros are more traditionally Greek, much quieter, rooted in island life and the welcome is warm but in a different register. Tourism culture is professional and respectful throughout, and the hotels and partners on this trip are entirely accustomed to hosting LGBTQ+ travelers.

Your Trip Leader is briefed in advance, and every property and partner on this journey has been chosen with our community in mind.

Greece Paros gay tour

Meals
Daily breakfasts and dinners are included throughout the trip, along with select lunches that highlight standout settings - long village lunches in Naxos, seaside meals on Paros, dinner aboard the catamaran in Santorini, and dinner on the sailing cruise to Delos.

Greek food is one of the genuine joys of the trip. The Mediterranean diet is at its source here: olive oil, fresh produce, simply prepared seafood, lamb, the best feta you've ever had, and Greek salad that bears very little resemblance to whatever you've been eating at home. Each island has its own specialties: Santorini's white eggplant and capers, Naxos' graviera cheese and citron liqueur, Mykonos' kopanisti and the wine traditions are quietly exceptional. Santorini's volcanic-soil whites (especially Assyrtiko) are world-class, and Naxos has its own wineries worth seeking out.

Outside of group meals, you'll have flexibility to explore on your own. Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos all have outstanding restaurant scenes; Naxos and Paros are quieter but full of small tavernas worth lingering in. Greek dining runs on its own clock and lunches stretch long, dinners start late (9 pm is normal), and rushing is considered rude.

If you have dietary restrictions or preferences, let us know in advance so that we can plan accordingly.

Packing Advice
Pack with warm weather and a Mediterranean sensibility in mind. Lightweight, breathable fabrics work best, along with comfortable walking shoes. Athens, Santorini, Naxos, and Mykonos all involve significant time on uneven cobblestones and stone paths. Sandals are essential; closed-toe shoes for sightseeing and longer walks are worth bringing too.

A few specifics:
- Swimsuits. Lots of swimming opportunities - the catamaran in Santorini, beaches in Naxos and Paros, the Delos sailing cruise, and the pools at every hotel.
- Light layers for ferry decks and evenings. The Aegean breeze is real, especially after sunset.
- One or two slightly polished outfits. Mykonos restaurants and beach clubs have a smart-casual culture by night, and you'll want to dress for it on at least a few evenings.
- High-SPF sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a wide-brim hat. Greek sun is no joke.
- A daypack and a refillable water bottle. Tap water is potable in Athens and most of the islands.

Hotels on the trip generally offer laundry service if you'd rather pack lighter and refresh on the road.

Mykonos gay trip

Money / Tipping
Greece operates on the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, and shops; American Express coverage is more variable. Carry some cash for smaller tavernas, taxis, markets, and the occasional cash-only spot. ATMs are abundant and reliable across all stops.

Tipping in Greece is more relaxed than in the United States. At restaurants, rounding up the bill or leaving 5-10% for good service is customary; some checks already include a service charge. Tipping is included for all the meals and activities built into your trip, so you don't need to think about it on those.

For any optional activities you may want to book: local guides typically receive €10-15 per guest per day, drivers €5-10, and hotel staff appreciate small tips for service (€1-2 for housekeeping or porters). Tipping guidance for your Trip Leader will be included in your pre-departure materials.

Mykonos gay travel

Trip Leaders
Your Trip Leader is with you from beginning to end. Coordinating logistics across Athens and four islands, smoothing transitions and making sure the journey holds together as one continuous experience.

In each destination, expert local guides take the lead on the experience itself. Historians at the Acropolis and on Delos, food and wine specialists in Naxos, boat captains and crew on the sailing days. Their knowledge transforms what could be a sightseeing checklist into something more substantive.

Your Group
Our journeys are intentionally capped at 16 travelers. Small enough to feel personal, large enough for a vibrant social dynamic. The number is deliberate: it allows the boutique hotels on this trip to host us with warmth and creates real space for conversation across long lunches and late dinners.

Most guests come as solo travelers, couples, or pairs of friends. Ages typically range across the 50s to 60s, with a mix that skews toward the curious, well-traveled, and socially engaged.

Greece, and Mykonos in particular, has a way of catalyzing the social side of these trips. Most groups end up with at least one impromptu late-night gathering nobody planned.

Naxos gay tour

Solo Travelers
Solo travelers thrive on our journeys, and Greece is a particularly strong fit. The shared rhythm of group dinners, the catamaran cruise, the Delos sailing day, and long lunches on Naxos creates connection naturally. The small group size means no one stays a stranger.

Electrical Outlets
Greece uses Type C (the standard European two-pin) and Type F (Schuko) plugs, with a standard voltage of 230V. Any standard European or universal adapter works everywhere on this trip. All hotels on the trip have reliable electrical service and ample outlets.

Staying Connected
Wi-Fi is reliable at every hotel on this journey and in most cafés, restaurants, and beach clubs. Connectivity in Greece is broadly excellent. Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini all have strong 4G/5G coverage, and Naxos and Paros are well-served as well.

For consistent connectivity, we recommend an eSIM (Airalo, Holafly, and Nomad all offer inexpensive Europe regional plans) or roaming through your home carrier. Most major US, UK, and Canadian plans now include Greece in their international packages.

Coverage can drop briefly mid-ferry between islands and on more remote stretches of the Mykonos sailing day, but the gaps are short. Your Trip Leader is reachable throughout via WhatsApp and group SMS.
