Greece has something even more important to offer to gay travelers: a distinctive and unique gay scene and mentality, which is different to every other country around the world.

Other island silhouettes on the horizon, a transparent sea lapping a sand or pebble shore, a congenial beach bar a few steps away... for many visitors, these are the essentials of a holiday in the Greek islands. Venture further inland, however, and you will find atmospheric villages and monasteries, world-class museums and a laid-back lifestyle pursued mostly in public.

Without a doubt, Athens is one of the most historical places in the world. It’s a city worshipped by gods and people, a magical city. The enchanting capital of Greece has always been a birthplace for civilization. This is the city where ancient civilization was established and eros was created.

The capital is famous, more than any other European capital, for its nightlife. Athens is home to a gay friendly city Gazi. While it may be a relatively new to the gay scene, it’s taking Athens by storm for gay entertainment. At night, the city of Athens changes. You can visit the famous "bouzoukia" and numerous theatres all around Athens for almost any type of entertainment you can imagine.

Gay Greece Holidays

Athens is known for its warm climate with mild winters and very hot summers, a popular destination for gay travelers in the summer. Only a few miles from Athens is the port of Piraeus the central commercial port of the capital, and the shores of southern Attica.

Athens and Attica in general have the most important archaeological monuments (Acropolis, Odeion of Herodes Atticus, Olymbion, Roman Market, Panathinaiko Stadium or Kallimarmaro, The Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, etc). You can’t go to Athens without seeing the Acropolis of Athens, one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. It dates all the way back to the 5th BC. While the Acropolis has seen some wear and tear, it still has the sparkle of white Pentelic marble. Now the acropolis stands as a political, social, cultural, financial and commercial center of Greece.
