Day 1 - Passau, Germany
Welcome to Passau and Transcend Evolve!
For guests not participating in Prague Optional Pre-Cruise Extension, once you’ve cleared customs at Munich International Airport (MUC), Transcend Cruises representative will be waiting to greet you. From there, you’ll be transferred to your floating boutique hotel - the Transcend Evolve — docked in the heart of Passau (two hour drive).
Guests arriving at the ship by 11:00 AM will enjoy a visit to the magnificent St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a baroque masterpiece and home to the largest cathedral organ in the world. You’ll experience a 30-minute performance of this breathtaking instrument, followed by a brief guided tour of some of Passau’s most notable landmarks. Known as the City of Three Rivers, Passau is a charming town with winding lanes, picturesque squares, and a rich tapestry of art and architecture.
This evening, please join your fellow travelers for a festive welcome reception and dinner followed by the first of several unforgettable performances aboard the Transcend Evolve.
Day 2 - Linz, Austria / Ceský Krumlov, Czech Republic
Linz to Ceský Krumlov – A Journey Back in Time
This morning, we dock in Linz, Austria. After breakfast, we travel to the enchanting town of Ceský Krumlov, tucked into the hills of southern Czech Republic. With its cobbled Old Town, vibrant castle, and rare Baroque theater, Ceský Krumlov feels like something out of a fairy tale—so much so that the entire town is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nestled in a curve of the Vltava River, this picturesque city has been a crossroads for Celtic, Germanic, and Slavic peoples for centuries. In its 16th-century Golden Age, Ceský Krumlov became a hub for artists, scientists, and alchemists from across Europe.
Our day begins with a visit to the impressive Ceský Krumlov Castle, home to the powerful Rožmberk family, who ruled from here for over 300 years. As we explore the castle's richly preserved interiors, you'll get a sense of noble Bohemian life through the centuries.
A standout feature is the colorful round tower, offering panoramic views after a climb of 162 steps. At the base, you’ll find the historic bear pits, which still house European brown bears—an homage to the Rožmberk family crest. The sprawling castle gardens, stretching over 2,300 feet, offer a stunning mix of French and English landscaping.
A true highlight is the Baroque Theater, one of only two remaining in the world (the other is in Stockholm). We’ll tour behind the scenes, where original wooden and rope stage machinery still functions. These clever devices allowed for scene changes, special effects, and dramatic weather simulations, creating unforgettable spectacles for 17th-century audiences. Most Baroque theaters were destroyed by fires caused by candle-lit pyrotechnics—Ceský Krumlov’s survived.
Next, we’ll head into the heart of the Old Town for lunch on your own in the charming main square. As you explore, you’ll stroll past beautiful Renaissance and Baroque buildings, all built upon 12th-century Gothic foundations. Don’t miss the Lékárna, an elegant red Baroque pharmacy that’s served the town since 1620 (and proudly refused McDonald’s three times!).
This afternoon, enjoy a visit to the whimsical Puppet Museum at your leisure. Featuring over 200 intricately crafted puppets and a functioning model stage, it’s a delightful experience for all ages—whether you're a child or simply a child at heart.
Day 3 - Salzburg / Linz, Austria
This is likely to be one of the most memorable days of your life—how’s that for setting expectations?
We begin with a short drive to the Linz railway station, where we board the Majestic Imperator, a beautifully restored palace on wheels. This historic train, once reserved for royalty, transports us in elegant style through the Austrian countryside. As we travel past rolling hills, forests, and charming villages with classic Austrian architecture, enjoy a gourmet breakfast onboard—a luxurious start to our day.
Upon arrival in Salzburg, we begin an immersive tour of the locations made famous by the beloved 1965 film The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. Set in Salzburg during the years leading up to World War II, the movie follows Maria, a spirited novice nun who becomes governess—and eventually wife—to naval officer Georg von Trapp and his seven children. (And yes, the glamorous Baroness von Schrader does get gracefully dismissed, but her future as a Gabor sister is a tale for another day.)
Adapted from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical—based on the real memoirs of Maria von Trapp—the film features unforgettable songs like “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things,” and “The Lonely Goatherd.”
Even those who aren’t fans of the Oscar-winning film will enjoy this experience, which takes you through the stunning Baroque architecture of Salzburg (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the breathtaking alpine scenery that served as the film’s iconic backdrop.
Highlights include visits to:
• Mirabell Palace and Gardens
• Leopoldskron Palace
• Schloss Hellbrunn, a magnificent 17th-century estate, where we’ll enjoy lunch near the reconstructed gazebo from “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”
•The Villa Trapp, the actual former residence of the von Trapp family
Throughout the day, you’ll gain insight not only into the movie, but also into the real-life story of the von Trapps, who inspired it all.
This afternoon, we reboard the Majestic Imperator for a refined journey back to Linz. Relax and enjoy a beautifully presented dinner onboard, reminiscent of a time when Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth (“Sisi”) traveled in similar luxury. We return to our floating hotel, Transcend Evolve, full of music, memories, and a touch of royal elegance.
Train Deluxe - Majestic Imperator
Although the Austro-Hungarian Empire has vanished into the mists of time, this is a lovingly recreated replica of the Imperial Train. As you approach the Majestic Imperator Train de Luxe, the atmosphere of the past is redolent of romance and mystery. On boarding, one’s breath is taken away by the sumptuous elegance of a bygone era. The luxury carriages are based on the imperial train of the Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi). Surrounded by the splendour of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, one can absorb the magic of days gone by.
Sisi’s favourite colour was blue, which is used in the carriage named after her, whilst other carriages sport rich golds or deep greens, wood-carved Italian chairs and paintings of the Royal family. The ambiance created by these carriages during the day, turns into a romantic setting by night.
Day 4 - Scenic Sailing the Scenic Wachau Valley / Vienna Austria
This morning we’ll sail the Wachau Valley en route to Vienna. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its terraced vineyards, charming towns, and centuries-old castles perched above the Danube. Though just 25 miles long, the valley has been continuously inhabited since prehistoric times—its fertile landscape and access to fresh water making it a desirable home for millennia.
As we glide through this scenic stretch, you’ll spot the remains of medieval castles, ancient churches, and quiet villages that date back to the Dark Ages. Life continues in these picture-perfect communities much as it has for centuries—nestled in the shadow of mountains, and nearly untouched by time. These timeless towns are exactly what many imagine when they think of idyllic Europe. This remarkable preservation of both natural beauty and cultural heritage is precisely why the Wachau Valley earned its UNESCO designation. There is no better way to experience the Wachau than from the river itself—this stretch of the journey is truly a highlight.
While we sail, enjoy a fascinating onboard talk by a guest expert on Vienna’s gay history. In the late 19th century, Vienna emerged as a progressive hub for groundbreaking thinkers and researchers exploring sexuality. You’ll hear engaging stories and fun historical insights that will add vibrant context to our arrival in the Austrian capital.
This evening, we arrive in Vienna. Celebrate with a cocktail reception on deck, featuring special entertainment, followed by dinner onboard. For those wishing to explore Vienna after dark, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the city’s vibrant LGBTQ+ nightlife scene.
Known as Austria’s “queer capital,” Vienna is home to an active and welcoming LGBTQ+ community. The city boasts a wide variety of gay bars, clubs, and saunas, and is considered one of the safest cities in Europe for queer travelers. Join your fabulous hosts, Metamorkid and Kelly Heelton, for a festive gay pub crawl to some of Vienna’s most popular LGBTQ+ spots. It’s sure to be an unforgettable evening!
Day 5 - Vienna, Austria
Once the heart of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna remains the political and cultural capital of Austria. It was here that Klimt painted, Beethoven and Mozart composed, and Freud developed his groundbreaking theories. Today, Vienna is a treasure trove of elegant architecture, world-renowned art, and inviting cafés—and it’s yours to explore.
We begin the day with a guided architectural tour led by a local expert, offering insights into Vienna’s storied past and stunning design. A highlight of the morning includes a special stop at the legendary Hotel Sacher for a presentation and tasting of the iconic Sacher Torte, a true Viennese tradition.
After enjoying lunch on your own, we reconvene at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 1732. Here, you’ll witness the world-famous Lipizzaner Stallions in a breathtaking performance that showcases centuries of equestrian artistry.
Our journey through imperial Vienna continues with a visit to the grand Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburgs. Admire the majestic yellow façade, then step inside to explore rooms adorned with golden stucco, rich velvet draperies, and intricate frescoes—testaments to the opulence of Austria’s royal past.
Following some free time in the city center to shop, wander, or relax at a café, we return to the Transcend Evolve for a festive Viennese-inspired reception and dinner as we set sail toward Budapest.
Day 6 - Budapest, Hungary
After a relaxing morning onboard, we arrive in the iconic city of Budapest, often referred to as the Paris of the East. We’ll dock near the stunning 19th-century Chain Bridge, which elegantly links the hilly, historic district of Buda with the flat, energetic heart of Pest.
Following lunch onboard, we begin our exploration at Heroes’ Square, home to the impressive Millennium Monument, flanked by statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and the Memorial Stone of Heroes.
From there, we continue to visit two of the most significant Jewish sites in Europe: the Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest in Europe, and the Rumbach Street Synagogue, both rich in history and architectural splendor. We’ll also stop at St. Stephen’s Basilica, a magnificent neoclassical cathedral named for Hungary’s first king.
Before returning to the ship for dinner, we delve into Hungary’s musical legacy. Budapest has long been a center of classical music, producing countless renowned musicians, including the legendary Franz Liszt. In 1875, Liszt founded what is now the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, one of the world’s leading conservatories. Today, enjoy a guided tour of the Academy, culminating in a live performance by current students—a memorable showcase of Hungary’s continuing musical excellence.
Day 7 - Budapest, Hungary
Today, we’ll explore how to snack around Budapest like a local—combining culture, cuisine, and relaxation in true Hungarian style.
Our adventure begins with a scenic tram ride to the iconic Hungarian Parliament Building. From there, enjoy a short stroll to your first stop: a coffee break at the charming First Strudel House of Pest, where you’ll sample fresh strudel and coffee in a traditional setting.
Energized and ready for more, we continue to the Great Market Hall, Budapest’s largest and oldest indoor market. Here, you'll sample authentic Hungarian delicacies such as salami, sausages, cheeses, and more, as your local expert shares the unique stories and traditions behind the country’s rich culinary heritage.
Next, unwind at the stunning Széchenyi Baths & Pool, a beloved Neo-Baroque spa complex that has welcomed guests for over 100 years. With 15 indoor pools, multiple saunas, massage and facial services, and three outdoor pools featuring whirlpools and jets, it's the perfect place to soak, relax, and rejuvenate. The mineral-rich thermal waters are said to have healing properties, making this an experience not to miss. To help you make the most of your visit, our team will work with you earlier in the week to review and pre-book spa services (available at an additional cost). /
This evening, we celebrate our final night in Budapest in fabulous fashion aboard the Transcend Evolve. Enjoy Drag Bingo hosted by top local drag entertainers, followed by a dazzling closing performance to end our Hungarian adventure on a high note.

Following breakfast, we bid you farewell and provide airport transportation to the Budapest Airport (BUD) with memories of another remarkable gay cruise adventure!

After breakfast, begin a magical tour of the city of Prague. Prague enjoyed a golden age in the 14th century, under the rule of Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, and many of the buildings in the UNESCO-designated city core date to that era.
Prague Castle dates back even earlier. Construction on the oldest parts of the complex began in the 9th century. A drive across the Vltava River (you might know the Vltava as the Moldau, the namesake of the beautiful tone poem by beloved Czech composer Bedrich Smetana) brings you to the sprawling complex of towers, halls, cathedrals, courtyards, and houses, where kings, emperors, and presidents have had their offices for almost a millennium. Step down from the motorcoach and walk inside the castle's protective walls, taking in the Gothic structure of St. Vitus Cathedral, which took 600 years to build, and Vladislav Hall, whose intricate stone-vaulting system was one of the most advanced engineering feats of the late Middle Ages.
After visiting St. Vitus Cathedral and the Old Royal Palace, you can choose between re-boarding the motorcoach for a ride back to the hotel or continuing your guided walk through the picturesque Lesser Quarter to Charles Bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks. The walking tour will end in Old Town Square, which is surrounded by majestic buildings, including the Church of Our Lady before Týn and Prague's City Hall, which boasts a famous medieval astronomical clock.
This evening enjoy a Friday night out on the town independently with your fellow travelers enjoying the incredible dining and nightlife the city has to offer.
