Feline Fields Vintage Camp Activities A Feline Fields safari can be filled with as much, or as little as you like. You set the pace and choose whether to get out and explore or sit back and relax. We always recommend a bit of both! From guided walking safaris to soaring above the Okavango Delta in a helicopter, exploring the legendary wilderness around the Khwai River in a myriad ways is the essence of the safari adventure of a lifetime...
Exclusive game drives
Early morning and afternoon/evening game drives are offered every day at Feline Fields Vintage Camp and give you the opportunity to explore the region around the camp and along the Khwai River, one of the most prolific wildlife regions in Botswana. This area is renowned for its high concentrations of predators like lion and leopard, huge herds of elephant and buffalo.

Helicopter safari
Taking to the skies over the Okavango Delta in a helicopter gives you a fresh appreciation of the magnitude of this phenomenal African wilderness. Flying low enough to spot game and take photographs from the air, these flights also give you the opportunity to see
areas that are otherwise completely inaccessible.
Guided walking safaris
Exploring on foot gives you the chance to properly immerse yourself in the wilderness, connecting you directly to the planet beneath your feet and the environment around you. Our guided walks are all about appreciating the smaller things so often overlooked on game drives - the plants and animals that otherwise go unnoticed. You learn as you go, and are often treated to sightings of iconic wildlife species along the way.

Mokoro safaris
Gliding through the perennial channels of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro - a traditional "dug-out" canoe - has to be one of the highlights of a visit to Feline Fields Vintage Camp. Water levels are consistent all year round and not dependent on the annual inundation, this is a wonderful way to see hippos, elephants and buffalos and phenomenal bird life.
Wooden hot tub and spa treatments
The ultimate way to spend a morning or afternoon is relaxing in our spa tent, having soothing massages and soaking in our authentic wooden hot tub overlooking the river, watching wild Africa pass by!

Birding
The area around Feline Fields Vintage Camp is renowned for its birding with more than 450 species recorded. From large raptors like the martial eagle, African fish eagle and Pel's fishing owl; waders like the saddle-bill stork and African jacana, and a rich variety of kingfishers and colourful bee-eaters, be sure to bring your binoculars with you!
Fishing
Fishing the Khwai River and its channels and lagoons is a wonderful way to spend a morning or afternoon. You can expect to catch bream, barbel and even tiger fish, all on a catch and release basis. We have rods and fishing tackle available, and our guides are on hand to show you the ropes!

The Kalahari is a desert like no other, an ancient land of semi-arid savannah that seems to stretch forever, filled with a rich diversity of life. This is the ancestral homeland of Africa's First People - the San Bushmen - whose fascinating culture permeates everything in this incredible destination.
Feline Fields Lodge sits in the northern reaches of the Kalahari, to the west of the Okavango Delta, not far from the border with neighbouring Namibia. Completely off-grid, using state-of-the-art solar technology, it's a retreat in every sense of the word, offering a range of activities from desert biking, nature drives and horse riding to guided walks, tennis and even golf practice!
However, it's the authentic interaction and involvement with the nearby San communities that really sets Feline Fields Lodge apart. Guests get to enjoy fireside storytelling and walks in the Kalahari with the Bushmen, as well as visits to local villages and the chance to witness genuine mystical and spiritual trance dances.

Accommodation
With just three Bush Suites, three two-storey Pool Suites and a spacious, two-bedroom Family Villa, the feeling of total exclusivity is a given at Feline Fields Lodge. Designed with complete privacy in mind, the suites are positioned far apart from one another along the edge of a woodland with panoramic views out over the savannah. The level of understated elegance, opulence, luxury and attention to detail is consistent across all of the accommodation options, combining to create effortless guest experiences.
Pool Suites
Feline Fields Lodge's three two-storey pool suites are built on raised platforms to make the most of the incredible views out over the Kalahari. Their raison d'etre is to create the feeling of having your own home in the African wilderness where you can relax in private and immerse yourself in your surroundings.

Ground Floor
On the ground floor, a super king size bed draped in billowing mosquito nets forms the focal point of each suite. A beautiful fan on each ceiling, just above the bed, keeps the air cool and there is always a refreshing breeze coming through the gauze windows at night, maintaining a comfortable temperature even at the hottest time of the year.
A lounge area with a 150cm daybed sofa and coffee table can be used as a further sleeping area for children. An Engelbox safari fridge with ice-cold drinks is provided in the room.
Upper Deck
An outside staircase leads to the beautiful upper deck which offers a a place to relax and can curl up with a good book during the day, or enjoy a sleepout-style experience at night. Cooled by the Kalahari breeze beneath a thatched roof and protected by a mosquito net, you fall asleep to the sights and sounds of the African night and wake to spectacular sunrises. Private dinners can also be arranged here.

Bathroom
The spacious bathroom, with beautiful views over the Kalahari landscape, contains a generous free-standing bath and shower, double basins and a private, flushing toilet.
Private Pool
Each suite has its own private 4m x 6m swimming pool surrounded by a teak deck complete with sun loungers.
Fat Bikes
Two special fat bikes are parked at the front door of each suite. You can cycle to the main guest area during the day, or venture out accompanied by one of our guides to explore the vast wilderness around the lodge. The bikes have extra large tyres and suspension making them easy to ride even through the thick sand.

Family Villa The sizeable two-bedroom Family Villa is perfect for two couples travelling together and overlooks the pristine wilderness of the Kalahari savannah.
Gauze windows allow for a natural flow of air to the private lounge and the canopied bedrooms on either side of it. Both are double bedrooms, one of which can be converted to a twin or triple room. Each bed is surrounded by linen mosquito nets.
Each bedroom has its own, en-suite bathroom with double basins, massage shower and flushing toilet. The Family Villa also has its own spacious deck made from sustainable wood where you can relax during the day or gaze up at the African night sky, ablaze with a million stars. A private swimming pool runs the width of the villa, giving you the chance to cool off during the day and night, if you wish!

Bush Suites Feline Fields Lodge's three spacious Bush Suites are light and airy, raised more than a metre off the ground on beautiful decks made from sustainable wood. This gives you the feeling of floating in the Kalahari savannah with phenomenal views from every angle.
Each bush suite has twin beds which can be converted to a super king size bed, surrounded by flowing mosquito nets and complemented by an inviting en-suite bathroom with double basins, walk-in massage shower and flushing toilet. The suites' sides can be opened up, leaving only transparent gauze netting between you and the bush, creating a natural flow of air and giving that feeling of being completely surrounded by nature.
All of the suites have a beautiful "star bath" out on their private wooden deck where you can admire the crystal-clear Kalahari night sky while enjoying a long, romantic soak. Add a bottle of bubbly for an extra drop of romance!
