Day 6 - Thursday, February 11, 2027
Singapore - Bangkok, Thailand

This morning, the Eastern & Oriental Express completes its journey, returning to Singapore, where we disembark and say farewell to life on the rails.

From the station, we transfer to the airport for our flight to Bangkok, marking a shift from the romance of train travel to the vibrant pulse of Thailand’s capital.

Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel along the Chao Phraya River, an iconic setting that places us at the heart of the city’s daily rhythm.

The remainder of the day is yours to settle in, refresh, or begin experiencing Bangkok at your own pace—whether that means relaxing at the hotel, enjoying the river views, or stepping out into the surrounding neighborhood.

Day 7 - Friday, February 12, 2027
Bangkok, Thailand
Today, Bangkok begins to reveal itself through its most storied landmarks and everyday rhythms. We explore some of the city’s historic heart, including the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha, and visit Wat Pho, where gilded halls and the reclining Buddha offer a moment of quiet awe.

Moving through the city, contrasts emerge naturally—sacred spaces beside lively streets, river life unfolding just beyond temple walls, moments of stillness woven into the flow of daily life. There’s time to pause, observe, and take it all in, whether that’s lingering in a shaded courtyard or watching the city move along the Chao Phraya.

The afternoon is yours to relax back at the hotel or continue exploring at your own pace.

As evening falls, Bangkok offers endless ways to enjoy the night, including neighborhoods celebrated for their vibrant gay scene, should the mood strike.

Ayutthaya, Thailand gay tour

Day 8 - Saturday, February 13, 2027
Bangkok / Ayutthaya, Thailand
This morning, we travel north from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, once the grand capital of the Siamese Kingdom and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, centuries-old temples rise from grassy plains and along riverbanks, their weathered stone and towering prang telling stories of power, trade, and devotion.

We explore the ruins at an easy pace—wandering among lotus ponds, Buddha images wrapped in saffron cloth, and temple complexes slowly reclaimed by time. The scale is impressive, but the feeling is surprisingly calm, offering space to reflect on how deeply history still lives here.

After time to explore and enjoy lunch nearby, we return to Bangkok in the afternoon.

The evening is open—perfect for a quiet dinner by the river, a walk through the hotel’s gardens, or simply watching the lights come up along the Chao Phraya as the city settles into night.

Hotel: Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Hotel, Bangkok, 5*

Chiang Mai gay tour

Day 9 - Sunday, February 14, 2027
Bangkok - Chiang Mai, Thailand
Today we journey north to Chiang Mai, set against forested hills and known for its slower pace and deeply rooted traditions.

Upon arrival, the atmosphere shifts almost immediately—cooler air, leafy streets, and a sense of ease that feels worlds away from the energy of Bangkok.

We begin with an introduction to the city’s old quarter, where ancient walls and moats frame temples that have quietly shaped daily life here for centuries. Golden chedis, wooden viharns, and the soft rhythm of bells create a feeling that is both grounding and gently uplifting.

Later, there’s time to settle in and enjoy the surroundings—perhaps a walk through the grounds, a spa treatment, or simply a pause to take in the mountain light as the day softens. Chiang Mai invites you to slow your pace naturally, setting the tone for what’s ahead.

Hotel: Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, Chiang Mai, 5*

Chiang Mai elephant sanctuary gay tour

Day 10 - Monday, February 15, 2027
Chiang Mai Countryside & Elephants
Today takes us into the lush countryside outside Chiang Mai for an experience that is both moving and quietly unforgettable. We visit an ethical elephant sanctuary, where rescued elephants live freely in a natural environment and are cared for with patience, knowledge, and deep respect.

This is not a performance or a spectacle. Instead, we spend time walking alongside these gentle giants, learning their individual stories, and observing their daily rhythms. Watching elephants bathe, feed, and interact with one another offers a powerful perspective—simple, humbling, and deeply memorable.

We return to Chiang Mai in the afternoon with time to relax or explore further, carrying with us the images and feeling of a day spent close to nature, in a way that feels honest and thoughtful.

This evening, we come together for a farewell dinner, a chance to share stories, raise a glass, and toast the epic journey we’ve just experienced—from Singapore and Malaysia to the heart of northern Thailand. It’s a relaxed and joyful close to a remarkable journey.

Eastern & Oriental Express Train journey map

The Eastern & Oriental Express Train

The Eastern & Oriental Express is the heart of this journey—the kind of travel that instantly slows time and brings everyone a little closer. From the moment you step aboard the train’s signature green-and-cream carriages, Malaysia begins to reveal itself in the most intimate way: palm-fringed countryside, rice paddies and rural villages, then deeper greens as the landscape turns wild and lush. This is the magic of luxury rail—the quiet thrill of moving slowly, the softness of being carried, and the rare privilege of watching nature up close, unhurried, from a front-row seat.

Eastern & Oriental Express Train interior

Life onboard becomes a beautiful ritual. Mornings begin gently—breakfast served in your cabin as the scenery glides by—then the day opens into long, breathable moments: a stroll to the restaurant cars for a leisurely lunch, a pause for afternoon tea, a good book by the window, and the simple pleasure of having nowhere to be except here.

Eastern & Oriental Express Train breakfast

Dress follows that same rhythm—relaxed comfort during the day and on excursions, then smart-casual with a touch of understated elegance in the evening. Dining is an occasion—regionally inspired, bright, aromatic, and deeply satisfying—served with Belmond hospitality that’s gracious, attentive, and effortlessly polished. As evening arrives, the train becomes its own little world: the Piano Bar glows with gentle melodies and low lamplight, glasses catch the light, and laughter rises and falls, before everyone drifts back to the Observation Car for moonlit air and passing jungle.

Eastern & Oriental Express Train carige

And then there’s Malaysia itself—vivid, layered, and wonderfully alive. Off the train, the journey offers cultural moments, coastal beauty, and time in Penang, a charismatic melting pot of heritage and flavor. Back onboard, you can lean into restoration with a treatment in the Dior Spa, then return to the most luxurious simplicity of all: watching the landscape roll by, feeling the air change, and letting your senses lead.

Even more special is sharing it with a like-minded group of Source travelers—an intimate community that makes an iconic experience feel personal. In a setting as timeless as this, connection happens naturally: over beautifully prepared meals, in the Observation Car as the jungle slips past, and in those quiet in-between moments that become the stories you’ll tell long after you’re home. This is dream travel, made real—together.
