Port Lincoln, Australia gay tour

Day 10 - Tuesday, February 25, 2025
Adelaide – Port Lincoln
After breakfast, transfer to Adelaide Airport. Take to the air, soaring westwards to the Eyre Peninsula and Port Lincoln, the seafood capital of Australia.

Our local specialist will greet us at the airport to start the adventure. First on the agenda is Winters Hill, from this vantage point you gain a 360’ degree view of the city of Port Lincoln, Boston Island, Boston Bay and all the way out to the stunning Port Lincoln National Park, then spin 180’degree and you can view the vista to Coffin Bay, Marble Ranges and the west coast of Eyre Peninsula, a superb photo opportunity.

Lunch is at French café L’Anse. Named for the French word ‘cove’ or ‘bay’, it was established through a vision from Marvin & Grace wanting to bring accessible fine dining, delicious coffee and French style pastries to the Eyre Peninsula.

After lunch, we take you out to beautiful Mikkira Station, arguably one of Australia’s very best habitats where Koalas can be found in the wild. Visit the restored original homestead and go for a stroll under the beautiful old Eucalypt trees and come face to face with the cuddly icon of Australia as they laze in the Manna gums. Due to the gums being stunted your view to the koala is at eye level and you will need more than 2 hands to keep count, maybe even 4! Wild but placid kangaroos casually hop around in this beautiful historical setting, where in 1842 Scotsman Adam Borthwick and his family made their home as one of the very first settlers of the region. Emus roam around and there is astounding birdlife here, some of which are rare and native to this area.

As the sun sets, we will relax with a platter of local produce, wine and listen to the sounds of nature. It’s beautiful!

From here we take a short drive back to Port Lincoln and the Port Lincoln Hotel, your accommodation for the next couple of nights. Here you’re free to explore and dine independently this evening.

Australia gay tour - Hopkins Island

Day 11 - Wednesday, February 26, 2025
Port Lincoln
Today you are in for a special treat full of wild encounters in some of the most beautiful places in South Australia, when we take an unforgettable cruise through the crystal clear waters around Port Lincoln. At Hopkins Island you have the opportunity of swimming with the rare and endangered Australian sea lion in its natural underwater habitat – one of life’s most memorable experiences. The cruise also takes you around the shores of the Port Lincoln National Park and the cliffs of the Memory Cove wilderness sanctuary. This pristine stretch of coastline is best seen by boat with stunning scenery and sightings of bottlenose dolphins, white bellied sea eagles and fur seals.

After arriving back into the marina we head off to a mini masterclass experience with Gav Myers. You will learn about the seafood industry from a local seafood producer and exporter. This experience will be unusual as you will be tasting seafood that is unique to this region and not always available on menus. Learn about the versatility of the fresh seafood while you are enjoying an exclusive mini-masterclass for lunch in an authentic setting.

Next, a truly special highlight will be meeting Ken Martin, a master sculptor in bronze and wood, who has evolved to master status since 1975. His artwork comes in the forms of busts, full figures, animals, humans and abstract. We meet Ken at his famous Port Lincoln statues Makybe Diva & the Tuna Poler on the foreshore of Port Lincoln. Ken has completed many private works and exhibitions all over the world and some of his commission works include famous people such as Jason Gillespie, Barry Robran MBE, Darren Lehman and Dr Robin Warren AC Nobel Laureate.

After your caffeine hit, you are driven to Coffin Bay on the western side of the peninsula, an area of outstanding beauty, home to world famous oysters and a variety of important species of flora and fauna. There are no other comparable systems of bays and inlets in such compact form anywhere on the coast, justifying the area’s classification as a maritime wilderness area.

After a gourmet seafood lunch, our next highlight of the day is a guided walk that will educate and inspire all with appreciation and the conservation of the natural environment in a ‘critically endangered ecological community’. Learn about the unique natural bushland of the Grassy Low She-oak Woodland that is a ‘Heritage Listed’ area. Get into the action with water divining, understanding and experiencing ‘bushtucker’ and then relax and marvel at the central meeting place that is truly like no other, while gathered around a fire listening to the sounds of the didgeridoo. Take a walk around spectacular South Head and visit Centennial Park, another popular Sydneysiders’ playground. Again, this beautiful park is a stone’s throw from the city, but a true escape with its walking, jogging, cycling and horse riding paths as well as its picturesque picnic grounds and beautiful ponds with their ducks and swans.

Journey on to iconic Bondi Beach where lunch is included at the iconic Icebergs Dining Room.

Drive back to the city through the leafy suburb of Woollahra and trendy Darlinghurst with its stylish bars and eateries, before returning to your hotel.
