Day 1 - Athens (Arrival Transfer) On arrival at Athens International airport, collect your luggage and be greeted by our transfer driver who will help with your bags and transfer you to your hotel in a modern, air conditioned Mercedes. You will have two nights in this hotel, centrally located and wonderful for discovering the best of Athens. After checking in and freshening up, use the free evening to discover Athens at night. After an early breakfast be in the lobby at 7.45 am where you will be collected for you guided tour of Athens. Travelling by modern air conditioned coach; our English speaking guide will show you around the best of modern and ancient Athens. Visit the constitutional centre of Greece, Syntagma Square, and watch the traditionally dressed guards keep watch at the nearby tomb of the unknown soldier. Visit the home of the modern Olympic Games, the Olympic Stadium built in the late 1800s. Then after witnessing the grandeur of the Temple of Zeus, be guided around the majesty of the Acropolis, with its fabulous array of ruins, including the jewel that is the Parthenon that sits watch over Athens. The Acropolis Museum is also included in the tour and is well worth a visit. You will be returned to your hotel in the afternoon and the rest of the day is yours to do as you please. For those wanting more culture you could visit the National Archaeological Museum. Or you could take a trip down the coastal parts of Athens and take in any of the cosmopolitan bars. The choice is yours.
After breakfast and check out you will be collected by our transfer driver and taken to the Port of Piraeus or Rafina where you will taken by hydrofoil to Mykonos Island. On arrival you will be greeted by our staff and transferred to the wonderful Hotel Elysium, known as one of the most gay friendly establishments in Greece. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please, whether that is sipping a Sea Breeze by the fantastic pool, or making your way into town to investigate the winding streets and fantastic restaurants and bars. Mykonos is known as the gay capital of Greece, so make the most of the fun, fantastic and crazy island with all the fun and great times it provides.
You have two full days on Mykonos to enjoy all that is has to offer. Not only is Mykonos home to the words rich, famous and infamous, it is also closest the very heart of the Cyclades Islands - Delos. At 9.30 am you will be taken down to the old party and ferried to Delos, a half an hour's boat ride away. Delos is the most important and well preserved archaeological site in Greece - and island abandoned a thousand years ago, rich in culture, mythology and history, birthplace of Artemis and Apollo and one place on earth where the sunlight is pure. Our English speaking guide will show you around this amazing site and then you will have some time to wander the amazing ruins for yourself. Mid afternoon you will be taken back to Mykonos where the rest of the day is yours to as you please. Maybe do some shopping, as Mykonos Town has more exclusive boutiques lining its streets per square mile than anywhere else in Europe. The restaurants and bars are world class and the clubs are famous the world over. Dance the night away at Pierro's or the Manto Bar. Be free to be you, and enjoy.
There are no planned activities today and you are at liberty to do as much or as little as you please. The beaches are amazing, and Paradise, Super Paradise and Elia beaches are of particular interest. Paradise and Super Paradise both have beach side clubs which you can dance the day away while taking in the fabulous people. Mykonos is one of the best places in the world to watch the world and its people go by. Or maybe you would wander the labyrinthine streets, shopping in the exclusive boutiques and having a frappe and a yiros in one of the cafes. The international restaurants are as good as any in the world. This island is like no other on the planet. Fantasy is reality here. Be yourself. Be happy. The only rules are the ones that you set yourself.
After a final breakfast at the hotel, you will be collected by our driver and taken to the port for the hydrofoil journey to Santorini. Relax on the boat and watch the Cyclades pass until you finally arrive at this famous island. From a distance away, Santorini looks like it's floating on a cloud. When you arrive at the island, marvel at the sheer cliff faces and deep blue waters. Like Mykonos, this island is a national treasure, unsurpassed in natural beauty. At the port, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. The Avaton Boutique Hotel is just out of the town of Imerovigli, a short taxi ride away from the main township of Fira. The views are unsurpassed, the pool amazing. You have two nights in the magical place to relax and enjoy the view. In the evening, watch the sunset from your restaurant table on the caldera edge. It is one of life's most simple pleasures.
Where Mykonos is about fun and frivolities, Santorini is all about the relaxation. There is nothing planned today. The most strenuous thing you may wish to do is watch the view from your patio and swim in the fabulous pool, taking your breakfast while watching the ships come in and out of the harbour. Santorini is a magnificent island and you cannot help but relax. If you do feel like venturing further than your hotel pool, Santorini has some wonderful beaches to the south, where the sands is black and the waters calm. The shopping in Fira is also very good. The jewellery shopping is almost as good as Mykonos. Ask us about arranging a trip out to the volcano in the middle of the Caldera or a trip to Oia, where the sunsets are some of the most beautiful in the world. In the evening, take in dinner in any one of the international standard restaurants. We recommend La Maltese for a meal that you will remember for a very long time. By the end of the day you will feel calm and rejuvenated, such is the restoring beauty of this island.
Your second day in Athens starts with breakfast in your hotel, after which our driver will collect you for your half day tour of Athens. Starting at around 9 a.m., the English speaking guide will take you to some of Athens most fascinating and interesting sights in a modern, air conditioned coach. Wonder at the magnificence of the Acropolis, the most famous ancient site in the world. The tour also visits the Houses of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Temple of Zeus. Witness the grand structure of the Olympic Stadium built for the first Modern Olympic Games. You will be returned to your hotel around lunchtime After lunch, you will be driven down the Athenian coast to Cape Sounion to the Temple of Poseidon to watch the magnificent sunset over the Aegean. You will be returned to your hotel in the early evening, after which you can find you evening meal in any one of the many international gourmet restaurants that Athens has to offer.
After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel, and our transfer driver will take to the airport for your flight, or to the port for you sailing to Mykonos. In arrival at Mykonos you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. You will have four nights at this wonderful establishment and we are sure you fall in love with the atmosphere and friendliness of the hotel. As soon as you reach Mykonos you will feel the vibe that is the heart and soul of this magical and cosmopolitan island. The rest of the day is yours to do with as you wish, whether that be sitting by the pool relaxing or wandering the labyrinthine streets. Have a drink and maybe a dance at any one of the incredible clubs the island has to offer. This is a place where the young, beautiful, famous and infamous come to party. Enjoy!
Day Four gives you with a view into Ancient Greece which you will never forget. Make sure you're up early for this memorable trip. After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to the old port of Mykonos for you half day tour of Delos. This island is the centre of the Cyclades Islands and birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis. It has also been uninhabited for over a thousand years, Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Our English speaking guide will explain to you the sights of this magnificent place, only a short boat ride away from Mykonos. Be a part of time standing still on this little piece of uninhabited beauty. You will return to Mykonos late afternoon where you are free to spend the afternoon as you choose, wandering back to your hotel after a spot of supper in one of the many cafes, or maybe a trip to the boutiques that line the narrow streets. The shopping in Mykonos is as good as London, Paris and New York, with many a designer having boutiques in the winding streets.
While you're in Mykonos, make sure you indulge in the incredible nightlife the town has to offer. Pierro's and the Manto Bar, in the streets behind the port are great places to start. Of if you're after something a bit more sedate, the piano bars, such as the Montparnasse in Little Venice might be more your scene. There is something for everybody after dark - you just have to go and find it.
On the morning of day five we will deliver your rental car to you. Please let us know if you prefer a manual or automatic transmission. With your car you have the freedom to explore the island away from the town. Please be careful when driving on the roads of Mykonos - they can be rather treacherous in places. One of the first places on your list o places to go should be Paradise and Super Paradise beaches. Here the party starts early and lasts until the very early hours. The people watching here is phenomenal as well, with sights of the young, the beautiful and the downright amazing flocking to these incredible beaches. Use the car to your advantage. There is a lot to see outside of the town.
Once again, use the hire car to your advantage, making the most of the car to see more out of the way beaches. In particular, Ornos Beach to the north of the town is a quieter beach than Paradise and Super Paradise, with its course sand and calm waters. The jewel of all Mykonos Beaches is Elia, on the other side of the island. This beach is gay friendly. Like most of the beaches on Mykonos, nudity is widely accepted and Elia can feel like your own private beach, with its fine sand and clear waters. It's a great place to relax and watch the world go by, free from the crowds and music of other, more notorious places, if that is what you desire. On the way home, visit the monastery in the island's centre. Early in the evening, the rental car company will collect the car from your hotel. Make the most of this evening, your last in this little piece of sybaritic paradise - eat, drink, dance and enjoy the freedoms that Mykonos provides.
Unfortunately, today you have to say goodbye to this particular patch of paradise. After breakfast, our transfer driver will collect you in the morning and take you to the airport for your flight or the port for your ferry back to Athens. On arrival in Athens, our transfer driver will take you to your Athens hotel where you will be spend the evening. You may choose to finish your fabulous week by taking the Athens by Night Tour, taking in the illuminated boulevards of this ancient city, followed by a dinner and Greek dancing. You may also forgo the trip and take the opportunity return to the Plaka for a meal and finish any shopping you may have forgotten.
